According to Dallas Stars goalie coach Mike Valley, Kari Lehtonen's undisclosed injury at the World Championships isn't serious.

"They're still looking at everything, and there has been a lot of communication between doctors there and our trainer," Valley said. "They're not 100 percent sure what the injury is, but I've been told it is not a serious injury." Lehtonen was hurt after a collision with American forward Bobby Ryan on Sunday and won't play again in the tournament. He will look to recover over the summer.

Milan Hejduk doesn't appear to be willing to hang up his skates just yet.

There has reportedly been some ongoing dialogue between him and the Colorado Avalanche and that is where the 36-year-old veteran would prefer to stay. Hejduk has played all 991 of his career games in the NHL with the Avalanche and is slated to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1. However, it is uncertain if he would play for another team or choose to retire if he isn't in Colorado's plans. Hejduk posted a career-low 37 points in 81 games in 2011-12.

Tomas Vokoun understands that his days in Washington are probably over.

The 35-year-old netminder is scheduled to hit unrestricted free agency in July after he signed a one-year deal with the Capitals last summer. "I wasn't planning on being back here anyways," said Vokoun. "For me, it was never intention to be here more than a year." His return likely wasn't in Washington's plans either due to emergence of Braden Holtby, mostly during the playoffs, and the fact that Michal Neuvirth also under contract. Vokoun said that he is healthy now, after he ended the 2011-12 campaign on the sidelines with a groin injury, and his agent commented that his client's preference is to stay in the NHL despite rumors that he may head overseas for the KHL.

Jacob Josefson skated on his own Tuesday and he is progressing well after being sidelined since Apr. 3 with a fractured wrist.

He is hoping to return before the end of the conference finals and is "getting better and better every day, and the strength is almost back and the [range of] motion almost normal," according to coach Pete DeBoer. The next step for him will be clearance to resume practices.

Phoenix Coyotes captain Shane Doan might face supplementary discipline for his boarding hit on Trevor Lewis in a 4-0 loss to the Los Angeles Kings.

General consensus is that Doan is less likely to face discipline than Martin Hanzal, who delivered a questionable boarding hit of his own on Dustin Brown. Doan does have a history of offenses, though, so it remains to be seen what the unpredictable disciplinary system determines.

Jeff Carter scored his first career playoff hat trick as the Los Angeles Kings dominated the Phoenix Coyotes 4-0 to take a 2-0 series lead.

Carter came into Tuesday with just a single goal, so this might be a springboard for bigger things. Dwight King also hit four tallies on the postseason, collecting the 1-0 winner. Anze Kopitar recorded two assists and Dustin Brown drew a ton of penalty minutes (along with registering a helper) in a laugher for Los Angeles. Justin Williams and Mike Richards also had an assist.

Adrian Aucoin's status for Game 2 will be determined at game time.

Aucoin’s undisclosed ailment kept him out of Game 1 against the Kings. The veteran defenseman was injured in Game 5 of the conference semifinal against Nashville. He has two assists and is a plus-4 in 10 playoff games.

Raffi Torres will meet with league officials Thursday to appeal his 25-game ban.

The forward was suspended during the Coyotes’ opening-round series after his hit to the head of Chicago’s Marian Hossa. The concern is not the suspension itself, but the length. It is the league's longest since the Islanders' Chris Simon received a 30-game sentence in 2007.

If the Coyotes win eight more games to earn the Stanley Cup, commissioner Gary Bettman could be the one that hoists it second.

Typically, Bettman hands the Cup to the team captain first. There's no problem there as that honor would go to Shane Doan. The problem stems from the fact the Coyotes are currently run by the NHL and they have no owner, leaving the commissioner to do the honors after that. "Gary would get it, wouldn't he?" Phoenix backup goalie Jason LaBarbera said. "If we win the Cup, does he hold it up himself first? I'm sure he wouldn't mind it. That would be an interesting dynamic."

Michael Del Zotto earned an assist and posted a game-high six shots in Monday's win over New Jersey in the opening contest of the Eastern Conference Finals.

He logged 22:41 of ice time in the match and finished with four hits. Del Zotto has been excellent in the postseason with two goals and seven helpers in 15 games. He also enjoyed a superb bounce back year in the regular season with 41 points and a plus-20 rating after a disastrous sophomore campaign in 2010-11. He should be back on everyone's fantasy radar now though.

Carey Price has reported that the injuries, that kept him on the shelf at the end of the regular season, are behind him.

The Montreal keeper was ailing from a compressed spine, sore neck and a concussion, but he was cleared before heading back home for the off-season after he remained in Montreal deep into April. Price is scheduled to become a restricted free agent and he is confident that an extension will be worked out with new GM Marc Bergevin in due time.

Henrik Lundqvist notched his fifth career playoff shutout as the New York Rangers prevailed in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference final versus the New Jersey Devils 3-0 on Monday night.

Lundqvist almost has as many shutouts (two) in the two-plus rounds of this postseason as he had in his five other playoff seasons. Even though Lundqvist was only called on to make 21 saves, quite a few of them were of the high-quality variety. He also had a ton of help from his teammates, who blocked 26 shots in the game. The netminder has a 1.52 goals-against average and .940 save percentage in the playoffs.
