Blue Jays sent RHP Trystan Magnuson outright to High-A Dunedin.

The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster. Magnuson, who was reacquired from the A's last November, has a 4.05 ERA and 5/1 K/BB ratio in 6 2/3 innings at the High-A level this season. The 26-year-old right-hander posted a 6.14 ERA in nine relief appearances with Oakland last year.

The Royals have promoted outfielder-third baseman Wil Myers and right-hander Jake Odorizzi from Double-A Northwest Arkansas to Triple-A Omaha.

Well deserved on both counts. Myers, who Baseball America ranked as the No. 28 prospect in the game over the winter, was hitting .343/.414/.731 with 13 homers, 30 RBI and a 1.146 OPS through his first 152 plate appearances. Odorizzi, who was ranked as the organization's No. 4 prospect by Baseball America over the winter, had a 3.32 ERA and 47/10 K/BB ratio in 38 innings over his first seven starts this year. Both are on the fast track to the big leagues.

The Rockies will decide Wednesday whether to activate Eric Young, Jr. from the bereavement list.

Young was placed on the bereavement list earlier this month after his grandfather passed away. He has spent the past few days in Arizona working on his conditioning. The speedy 26-year-old is hitting .286 (6-for-21) with four stolen bases and an .829 OPS in 21 games this season.

Freddy Sanchez saw a back specialist Tuesday and was given an epidural injection.

Sanchez recently underwent an MRI on his lower back after it locked up on him while he was rehabbing from shoulder surgery. The 34-year-old hasn't played in a major league game since last June 4 and there's no telling when he'll make it back at this point.

Joaquin Arias is day-to-day after X-rays came back negative on his left forearm.

Arias left Tuesday's game against the Rockies in the fourth inning after he was hit in the left forearm by a pitch, but fortunately for the Giants, he was diagnosed with a contusion and managed to avoid serious injury. There's a chance he could play Wednesday, but the Giants may hold him out for a day to play it safe.
May 16 - 8:45 AM

Chris Young went 2-for-5 with two doubles and three RBI Tuesday in his second minor league rehab game with High-A Visalia.

He also played three innings in center field. Young is 3-for-9 over his first two rehab games and will play a final game with Visalia on Wednesday before heading to Triple-A Reno. There's a chance he rejoins the D-Backs this weekend.
May 16 - 8:30 AM

A.J. Ellis went 2-for-4 in Tuesday's 5-1 loss to Arizona.

Ellis has hit safely in six of his past seven games, with four multi-hit performances during this span. His .322/.455/.500 is surprising only to those who did not follow his minor league career. He's certainly a sell-high candidate with such gaudy numbers. But a .300/.400/.475 season certainly looks doable.
May 16 - 5:45 AM

Alexi Ogando continued his dominion over major league hitters on Tuesday, retiring all four Royals faced in a 7-3 setback.

Ogando has been practically untouchable this season with a 0.45 ERA and 0.50 WHIP. His 21/2 K/BB ratio is remarkable.
May 16 - 5:33 AM

Jonathan Lucroy went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI in Tuesday' 8-0 victory over the Mets.

It was Lucroy's seventh multi-hit effort in his previous 12 games, during which his batting average has soared from .263 to .330. He also has nine RBI during this span, as timely hitting has made him a valuable commodity thus far.
May 16 - 5:28 AM

Ryan Zimmerman went hitless in four at-bats in Tuesday's 6-1 loss to the Padres.

It's been a rough season for Washington's third baseman, and it's only mid-May. Since returning from the DL on May 8, Zimmerman is 7-for-29 (.241) with one extra-base hit and one RBI. His OPS is down to .668 through 87 at-bats.
May 16 - 5:22 AM

John Baker went 3-for-4 with three RBI in Tuesday's 6-1 win over the Nationals.

After starting the season 2-for-25 (.080), Baker has caught fire with five hits in his last seven at-bats. He performed well in part-time action before undergoing Tommy John surgery, and should continue contributing against right-handed pitchers going forward.
May 16 - 5:12 AM

Freddy Garcia yielded one unearned run on one hit through two innings against the Orioles on Tuesday.

Since his demotion to the bullpen on April 29, Garcia has surrendered only three hits along with zero earned runs in six innings. While his 8.69 ERA remains ugly, he is finally headed in the right direction.
May 16 - 5:03 AM

Marco Scutaro came off the bench to homer in the top of the ninth and lead the Rockies to a 5-4 win over the Giants on Tuesday.

It was Scutaro's first homer with the Rockies and the second given up by Giants closer Santiago Casilla this season. Scutaro will surely be back at second base for Colorado on Wednesday.
