Cory Luebke has elected free agency.
Luebke cleared waivers after being designated for assignment but has declined an outright assignment. The left-hander will now look for a gig elsewhere.
Angels claimed RHP J.C. Ramirez off waivers from the Reds.
Ramirez, 27, holds a 6.40 ERA this season and a 6.41 ERA over 65 career appearances in the majors. He's merely a depth guy for the Angels.
Yadier Molina is absent from the Cardinals' lineup Sunday.
It's just a day off for Molina, who is batting just .222/.284/.287 since the beginning of May. Eric Fryer is starting behind the plate. Jhonny Peralta is also getting a breather, as the Cards have Jedd Gyorko at third base.
Welington Castillo is not in the Diamondbacks' lineup Sunday.
It's a normal day of rest for Castillo, who has struggled since the beginning of May. Chris Herrmann is catching Sunday.
An MRI on Yunel Escobar's left knee revealed a bone bruise.
Escobar suffered the injury on Thursday and hasn't played since. The injury has turned out to be worse than initially expected, although he hasn't been placed on the disabled list yet. However, a move can't be ruled out if he doesn't see improvement in the next day or two.
Nationals placed RHP Stephen Strasburg on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 16, with an upper back strain.
Strasburg appeared to be track to start Sunday after visiting a chiropractor, but his back flared up on him again Saturday. He'll be eligible to return later this week but it seems unlikely that he'll be ready by then. The Nationals will announce a corresponding move prior to Monday's game.
Yunel Escobar (knee) remained out of the Angels' lineup Sunday.
He's missed three straight games with a sore knee. Escobar is not expected to require a disabled list stint. Jefry Marte is at third base again Sunday.
Joe Panik is not in the Giants' lineup Sunday.
It's a regular day off. Ramiro Pena will handle second base.
