Joel de la Cruz is a candidate to start Wednesday's game against the Indians.

That would have been Aaron Blair's turn to pitch but the Braves optioned him to Triple-A Gwinnett on Saturday. De la Cruz was called up last month but the Braves sent him down before he got a chance to pitch in a game. The 27-year-old holds a 4.68 ERA over 21 appearances (five starts) for Gwinnett this season.

Matt Wieters went 3-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI as the Orioles took the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Rays by the score of 8-6.

Wieters, who didn't start the first game of the doubleheader, made his start count, smashing a two-run homer off Rays starter Jake Odorizzi in the fourth inning before adding a solo shot off reliever Danny Farquhar in the eighth. Wieters now has nine big flies on the year, batting .278/.332/.471 through 53 games.

The Mets have not considered designating Alejandro De Aza for assignment.

At least not yet. De Aza has given the Mets nothing this year, hitting just .170 across 88 at-bats. He endured another frustrating night Saturday against the Braves, going 0-for-3 and botching a bunt attempt in embarrassing fashion. De Aza only got the start Saturday because Brandon Nimmo's flight to Atlanta didn't arrive until late in the afternoon. De Aza will continue to serve as outfield depth.

Jake Odorizzi allowed five runs on eight hits over five innings in Saturday's doubleheader nightcap against the Orioles.

Odorizzi was staked to a four-run lead but wasn't able to hold it, eventually settling for a no-decision. The right-hander was done in by homers, as the Orioles hit three of them on the evening. He walked one and struck out one before exiting. He now owns a 3.93 ERA and 1.22 WHIP through 16 starts, numbers he'll look to improve upon Thursday against the Tigers.
Jun 25 - 11:45 PM

Chris Tillman allowed 10 hits and six runs over five innings in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Rays.

Tillman had a rough night, as his 10 hits and six runs given up were both season highs. He also walked two while striking out two. Even when he stumbles, Tillman can't seem to lose, as he's still 10-1 in 16 starts this year. The right-hander will carry a 3.52 ERA into Friday's start at the Mariners.

Darren O'Day (hamstring) threw a bullpen session between games on Saturday.

The Orioles were hosting a doubleheader against Tampa Bay. O'Day will throw another bullpen session before advancing to simulated work when the Orioles begin their road trip on Tuesday. It's unclear if he'll need a rehab assignment before returning to the Baltimore pen.

Orioles optioned LHP T.J. McFarland to Triple-A Norfolk.

McFarland was only up for the Orioles' doubleheader Saturday against Tampa Bay. He actually picked up a win in the nightcap, scattering three hits and one walk over two shutout frames. McFarland will continue to shuttle between Baltimore and Norfolk throughout the year.

Jose Altuve's epic season rolls on as he smacked four hits, including a home run and two doubles, in Saturday's 13-5 thrashing of the Royals.

Altuve is now batting .348 with 13 home runs and a .994 OPS. Add in his 54 runs scored, 44 RBI and 18 stolen bases and you get possibly the most valuable player in fantasy baseball this year. Not bad for the smallest player in the game. He is only two homers behind his career high set last year.
