Jonathan Villar is not in the Brewers' starting lineup Thursday against the Diamondbacks.

Villar was pulled from Wednesday night's game after committing multiple blunders at shortstop and on the basepaths. Brewers manager Craig Counsell was not impressed. Hernan Perez will fill in Thursday versus Arizona.

Blue Jays OF prospect Anthony Alford ripped three hits Wednesday in a win for High-A Dunedin.

He supplied two triples, a double and two RBI as the Blue Jays squeaked out a 10-9 win over Lakewood. Alford has hit safely in nine of his last 10 games, batting .371 during that span with two homers and six RBI. The hot streak has raised his average from .188 to .232. The 22-year-old is looking for better results after a disappointing first half that included a .200 batting average and 50 strikeouts in 125 at-bats.

Jonathan Lucroy is not in the Brewers' starting lineup Thursday against the Diamondbacks.

Rev up those trade rumor engines. ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reported on Wednesday night that talks involving Jonathan Lucroy had begun to intensify, and it sounds like he could be dealt at some point Thursday. There is believed to be interest from the Rangers, Indians, Astros, Mets, and Red Sox. Martin Maldonado will start at catcher for Milwaukee on Thursday afternoon versus Arizona.

Phillies C prospect Jorge Alfaro matched a season-high with four hits Wednesday in a win for Double-A Reading.

He plated three runs as the Fightin Phils rolled to an easy 11-3 victory over visiting Binghamton. All of his hits were singles. Alfaro's big night came on the heels of a 3-for-20 slump that dropped his average from .297 to .287. Alfaro leads all Eastern League catchers in home runs (12) and RBI (53) this season. The 23-year-old was acquired from Texas last summer in the Cole Hamels trade.

Pirates 1B prospect Stetson Allie tallied a career-high five hits Wednesday in a win for Double-A Altoona.

He finished a triple shy of the cycle. The 25-year-old has been on a real heater lately. He's hit .647 (11-for-17) with eight RBI during his five-game hitting streak. Over that span he's seen his average climb from .246 to .272. The former second-round pick has had a productive year for the Curve, contributing 10 homers, 45 RBI and a .463 slugging percentage over 257 at-bats. He's looking for a breakthrough after spending his last three seasons in Double-A.

Jose Reyes (intercostal) is doubtful for Friday.

Reyes was diagnosed with a Grade 1 intercostal strain on Tuesday afternoon and is still dealing with some discomfort. Mets manager Terry Collins said he's not considering a disabled list stint at this point because the club has a string of games in American League parks next week. That would allow Reyes to DH, but it does seem like an odd strategy considering the veteran infielder suffered the injury on a swing.

Yankees RHP prospect Brady Lail fanned six hitters over seven shutout frames Wednesday in a win for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

He scattered three hits and one walk while throwing 53 of his 72 pitches for strikes. The right-hander has now allowed just one earned run over his last four starts. Lail has looked right at home since his promotion to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, compiling a solid 3.69 ERA over 10 Triple-A appearances. The 22-year-old has relied heavily on contact this year, which could cause him trouble when he eventually reaches the major leagues.

Yoenis Cespedes is out of the Mets' lineup Thursday because he had a flareup with his quad.

Cespedes missed a chunk of time earlier this month with a quad strain, and now it's rearing its ugly head again. Consider him day-to-day for now. Alejandro De Aza is in left field and Juan Lagares is in center field on Thursday afternoon against the Rockies.
