Alex Rodriguez is not in the Yankees lineup for Saturday's afternoon tilt against Johnny Cueto and the Giants.

Rodriguez has been struggling at the dish lately and has been receiving more and more days off because of it. They're rolling with Carlos Beltran as the DH on Saturday with Aaron Hicks starting in right field and batting ninth.

Pirates recalled C Elias Diaz from Triple-A Indianapolis.

He'll provide depth behind the plate for the Bucs with Eric Fryer away on paternity leave. He doesn't hold any fantasy value.
Jul 23 - 1:34 PM

Pirates placed C Eric Fryer on the paternity leave list.

Fryer's wife gave birth to twins on Saturday morning, so he certainly has his hands full for the next couple of days. Elias Diaz was recalled from Triple-A to take his place on the roster.

Pirates optioned RHP A.J. Schugel to Triple-A Indianapolis.

Schugel had been serving as the long man in the Pirates bullpen, but with Jeff Locke shifting to that role he became expendable. Expect to see him again at some point during the second half of the season.
Jul 23 - 1:32 PM

Pirates recalled RHP Tyler Glasnow from Triple-A Indianapolis.

Glasnow will make his second start with the Pirates on Saturday at home against the Phillies. If he pitches well, he could make a case for remaining in the rotation for the remainder of the season.
Jul 23 - 1:30 PM

Buster Posey (foot) is in the Giants starting lineup on Saturday.

Posey was forced to leave Friday's game after fouling a ball off of his back leg. He suffered only a minor contusion though and is back behind the dish and batting third for the Giants against Ivan Nova and the Yankees on Saturday afternoon.
Jul 23 - 1:14 PM

Maikel Franco (wrist) is not in the Phillies starting lineup on Saturday.

Franco was drilled by a Gerrit Cole pitch on his wrist on Friday night and is sitting out on Saturday as a precautionary measure. He's considered day-to-day and should return for Sunday's series finale.

Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports that the Marlins are among the teams that have been discussing Andrew Cashner with the Padres.

The Orioles are also known to be negotiating with the Padres. The Marlins could become a legitimate title contender in the National League with the addition of a second starter behind Jose Fernandez, and Cashner could fit the bill potentially.
