Ryan Goins went 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI double in Wednesday's 8-2 win over the Phillies.

The Jays banged out 16 hits against the Phillies' pitching, so Goins' contribution were relative drops in the bucket. Still a productive night. He doubled in a run in the seventh to push the Jays' lead to 8-1 at the time. Goins has otherwise not done much at the dish, batting .227/.274/.323 with two home runs and 26 RBI.

Ehire Adrianza went 1-for-3 and drove home a pair of runs on Wednesday, leading the Giants to a 5-0 victory over the Brewers.

Getting a rare start at second base in place of Joe Panik, Adrianza delivered a two-run single as part of a five-run uprising in the seventh inning that broke the game open. The 25-year-old is hitting just .136/.174/.182 in limited action this season.

Jerome Williams served up four runs in 4 2/3 innings, taking the loss on Wednesday against the Blue Jays.

If there was a bright side to the outing, it was that the Blue Jays only scored against him four times. They racked up 10 hits and chased him in the fifth inning. He walked none and struck out one. It hasn't been a good year for Williams, as he has a 6.36 ERA, a 1.69 WHIP, and a 46/20 K/BB ratio over 80 2/3 innings. He has a tall task coming up with a home start against the Dodgers.
Jul 29 - 10:03 PM

Jake Peavy scattered just four hits over six shutout innings in a no-decision against the Brewers on Wednesday.

Peavy struck out three in the contest. Unfortunately for him, the Giants offense didn't wake up until the seventh inning, so Peavy had to settle for a no-decision. He now sports a 4.12 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 25/10 K/BB ratio over 39 1/3 innings on the season. He'll do battle against the Braves in Atlanta his next time out on Tuesday.
Jul 29 - 10:01 PM

R.A. Dickey picked up his fifth win after limiting the Phillies to two unearned runs in eight innings on Wednesday.

Russell Martin and Danny Valencia made errors which led to both runs scoring, one in each of the seventh and eighth innings. Dickey scattered seven hits and a walk while striking out four. He's limited the opposition to two or fewer runs in four consecutive starts, lowering his ERA to 4.27 with a 1.28 WHIP and an 84/47 K/BB ratio over 137 innings. The knuckleballer squares off at home against the Twins next.
Jul 29 - 9:58 PM

Troy Tulowitzki made his Blue Jays debut and went 3-for-5 with two doubles, a home run, three runs scored and three RBI in a win against the Phillies on Wednesday.

What a way to make a debut. He struck out in his first at-bat with his new club, but made up for it with a two-run home run in the third inning. He added an RBI double in the sixth. Tulowitzki now has 13 home runs on the year with 56 RBI along with a .305 average. The Rogers Center is friendly to right-handed hitters, so the move away from Coors Field may not hurt his numbers all that much.

Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports reports that Jose Peraza would head to the Dodgers in the rumored three-team deal with the Marlins.

As it currently stands, the Dodgers would receive Peraza, Alex Wood and Jim Johnson from the Braves plus Mat Latos and Michael Morse from the Marlins. The Braves would receive Hector Olivera, Zach Bird and a compensation pick, while the Marlins would acquire three low-level minor league pitchers. There are still hurdles to clear, so don't expect anything to be finalized until Thursday at the earliest.

TR Sullivan of MLB.com reports that the Rangers are getting close to acquiring Cole Hamels from the Phillies.

While the two sides are reportedly at the finish line of a potential deal, there has been no word as to what the Phillies would receive in return. Sullivan expects a deal to be finalized on Thursday.
