Darren O'Day (elbow) is likely to need a rehab assignment before being activated.

The Orioles initially hoped to have O'Day back this past weekend, but they've decided to proceed more cautiously with his rehab. He will throw another bullpen session Tuesday and might be ready for a rehab appearance after that.

The Orioles plan for Zach Britton (Achilles) to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Norfolk on May 30.

He'll obviously need a handful of rehab appearances before being activated. Coming back from a ruptured Achilles tendon, Britton has been throwing off a mound for nearly a month and will throw a simulated game Tuesday. He would seem to be tracking toward a return in mid-June if all goes well.

Carson Kelly (hamstring) could be activated from the disabled list on Saturday when first eligible.

Kelly landed on the DL last week with a hamstring strain, but it was a minor one. He'll replace Steve Baron on the roster when he's ready.

DJ LeMahieu (thumb, wrist) played catch Monday.

He did not catch the ball in his glove, though, in order to protect his sprained thumb and small wrist fracture. In other words, LeMahieu is just keeping his arm in shape and is at the very beginning of his rehab.

Adam Wainwright underwent a non-intrusive procedure Monday where doctors used a microscopic camera to take pictures of the inside of his right elbow.

It's the latest in a battery of tests the Cardinals are putting Wainwright through in hopes of figuring out the exact cause of his elbow discomfort. The veteran right-hander was moved to the 60-day disabled list last week and thus isn't eligible to return until mid-July.

Jordan Zimmermann (shoulder) will need multiple rehab starts before rejoining the Tigers' rotation, manager Ron Gardenhire said Monday.

Zimmermann's right shoulder impingement was only supposed to require a minimum disabled list stint initially, but he's already missed over two weeks of action and seems likely to miss at least a couple more. The veteran right-hander resumed throwing off a mound last Thursday and should be ready for a rehab assignment before long.

Rich Hill (blister) played catch Monday.

He was presumably wearing something to protect the blister on his left middle finger. Hill -- who is expected to miss at least the next month of action -- said he plans to ask Major League Baseball if he can pitch with his fingertip taped. It would be a surprise if MLB allows it.

Miguel Cabrera (hamstring, hips, back) took batting practice Sunday.

Cabrera has missed the last two and a half weeks with a strained hamstring, and he's also dealt with soreness in his hips and back while receiving treatment recently. It's obviously good news that he's resumed batting practice, but he'll need to ramp up workouts before we have a better idea when he might return.
