Angels optioned Ryan Brasier to Triple-A Salt Lake.

Brasier was only up in the bigs for five days this time around. He will probably be back and forth all summer.

Jordan Walden (shoulder) will not be ready to be activated from the disabled list next Monday.

That's the first day he's eligible to return, but the right-hander is not quite far along enough. Walden will throw a bullpen session later this week and then head out on a short minor league rehab assignment. He should be ready just before the end of May.

Blue Jays released RHP Miguel Batista.

Batista was sporting an 8.36 ERA and 2.04 WHIP through 28 innings at Triple-A Buffalo. The 42-year-old right-hander may try to latch on with a new organization.

Ross Wolf will be recalled from Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday to start against the A's.

Nick Tepesch has a blister on his right middle finger, so Wolf is going to take the mound in his place. Wolf has posted a promising 1.85 ERA and 25/9 K/BB ratio in 34 innings this season at the Triple-A level, but the 30-year-old right-hander is not a great fantasy streamer.

Nick Tepesch has been scratched from his Wednesday start due to a blister on his right middle finger.

Ross Wolf will take the mound in his place. Tepesch should be fine by his next turn in the Rangers' rotation.

Cubs activated RHP Matt Garza from the disabled list.

Garza will make his first start in 10 months for the Cubs on Tuesday night against the Pirates. He looked fairly sharp on his minor league rehab assignment and can be activated immediately in most fantasy leagues. Carlos Villanueva has been pushed into a bullpen role.
May 21 - 4:52 PM

Cubs designated RHP Michael Bowden for assignment.

The move cleared a roster spot for Matt Garza, who is coming off the disabled list to start Tuesday against the Pirates. Bowden had a 3.78 ERA and 1.14 WHIP in 16 2/3 innings with Chicago and should draw interest from other teams. He is only 26 years old.

Salvador Perez has been diagnosed with a deep right hip bruise and is considered day-to-day.

Perez suffered the injury Monday when he ran into a railing near the Astros' dugout while trying to track down a foul ball. He is not in the Royals' starting lineup on Tuesday night but should be fine in a few days.
