CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that Joe Blanton has not officially retired.

Blanton left the Athletics' Triple-A team after two outings, but he hasn't decided whether he'll give up baseball for good. Regardless, the Angels will pay him the $9.5 million remaining on his contract. The 33-year-old owns an 85-89 record and 4.51 ERA in the majors.

Brian Roberts (back) returned to the Yankees' starting lineup Thursday against the Rays.

Roberts has been nursing a lower back strain in recent days, but he's feeling good enough to give it a go. He's hitting eighth against David Price.

David Robertson (groin) threw 25 pitches Thursday in a bullpen session.

Robertson, who is on the disabled list with a Grade 1 groin strain, said he felt good after the session. He's slated to throw in a minor league game on Saturday and should be activated as soon as he's eligible on Tuesday if all goes well.

Ben Revere went 3-for-4 with a go-ahead RBI single in a 1-0 win over the Braves on Thursday.

Revere was hitless over his last 12 at-bats coming into Thursday's action. His RBI single off Alex Wood in the bottom of the eighth inning was the only offense the Phillies would need. The 25-year-old speedster is hitting .288 (15-for-52) through 14 games and is 5-for-6 in stolen base attempts.
Apr 17 - 3:54 PM

Jonathan Papelbon tossed a perfect ninth inning Thursday against the Braves for his fourth save of the season.

Papelbon, who showed some more oomph on his fastball, notched two strikeouts in the frame. He now has five straight scoreless appearances.
Apr 17 - 3:52 PM

A.J. Burnett tossed seven scoreless innings Thursday in a no-decision against the Braves.

Burnett left his most recent start with an inguinal hernia, but he showed no ill effects in this one. In fact, it was his best start since joining the Phillies. The veteran right-hander held the Braves to three hits (two of them singles) and two walks. He notched five strikeouts. Burnett will need surgery eventually, but he's going to try to pitch through the hernia for the rest of the season. So far, so good.
Apr 17 - 3:51 PM

Alex Wood yielded one run over eight innings and took the loss Thursday against the Phillies.

Wood held the Phillies scoreless over the first seven innings, but Ben Revere got to him with an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth. It was enough to put the young left-hander on the losing side. Wood struck out seven and walked one in the tough-luck loss. Through four starts, he owns a 1.67 ERA and 24/7 K/BB ratio in 27 innings. Many thought a breakout season was possible this year, but he is exceeding expectations thus far.
Apr 17 - 3:51 PM

Chase Utley went 2-for-3 with a pair of singles against the Braves on Thursday.

Utley went 0-for-4 on Wednesday to snap his 16-game hitting streak dating back to last season, but he got right back to work Thursday. The 35-year-old is hitting .462 (24-for-52) with three home runs, seven doubles, and 10 RBi through 13 games.
