Chris Heston took his fourth loss of the year on Tuesday, serving up five runs in 3 2/3 innings to the Pirates.

Heston allowed a ton of base runners: seven on hits and three on walks. He did strike out six, but it wasn't enough to limit the damage. Heston has been an enigma, looking brilliant at times and looking incredibly hittable at others. He now has a 4.29 ERA, a 1.35 WHIP, and a 55/18 K/BB ratio over 65 innings. Heston will make a road start against the Mets next. He's a decent streaming option for those who can afford the risk.

Brandon Crawford went 2-for-4 with a walk and a two-run home run in Tuesday's loss to the Pirates.

Crawford's two-run home run off of A.J. Burnett in the third inning knotted the game up at three apiece. The shortstop has been much more productive than expected coming into the season, batting .297/.369/.511 with eight home runs and 36 RBI. He's certainly worthy of All-Star consideration at the moment.
Jun 3 - 1:36 AM

Andrew McCutchen finished a home run shy of the cycle, going 4-for-5 with two RBI as the Pirates won against the Giants on Tuesday.

McCutchen is a ball of hot fire right now, as Tuesday's effort marked his sixth multi-hit game in his last 11 contests. He knocked in a run in the third inning with a single and padded the Pirates' lead with an RBI double in the ninth. McCutchen's early-season struggles are in the rear-view mirror now, as he's hitting .292/.379/.497 with seven home runs and 32 RBI. If there is one complaint, it's that he hasn't been very active on the base paths -- he has only three stolen bases in five attempts to date after going 18-for-21 last year.
Jun 3 - 1:34 AM

Noah Syndergaard struck out 10 Padres, but allowed seven runs in four innings of work as the Mets lost 7-2 on Tuesday.

On Monday, Padres starter Andrew Cashner became the first pitcher in the modern era to allow 10-plus hits and strike out 10-plus batters in fewer than five innings. Strangely enough, Syndergaard joined him on Tuesday. Of the 10 hits he allowed, two were triples and one was a two-run Derek Norris homer. Syndergaard walked none along with the 10 strikeouts. He's sitting on a 3.77 ERA with a 1.26 WHIP and a 32/5 K/BB ratio over 28 2/3 innings. He will try for better results in a road start against the Diamondbacks.
Jun 3 - 1:30 AM

Ian Kennedy earned his third win of the season on Tuesday, giving up two runs over six innings against the Mets.

Kennedy was scored upon in the first and sixth innings, bookending his start. He wasn't hit particularly hard, as five of his six hits were singles. He walked two while striking out eight. Kennedy has shown flashes of promise but has overall been inconsistent in nine starts, sporting a 6.60 ERA with a 1.47 WHIP and a 45/16 K/BB ratio over 45 innings. He'll face the Braves in Atlanta in his next trip out to the mound.
Jun 3 - 1:27 AM

Matt Kemp struck out three times in four at-bats Tuesday, but the Padres took down the Mets anyway.

Kemp's OPS is now below .600 following the arduous night. He has only two extra-base hits in 99 plate appearances dating back to May 7. His triple-slash line is a poor .242/.277/.322 with one home run and 26 RBI.
Jun 3 - 1:24 AM

Michael Cuddyer logged three hits in four at-bats, but the Mets lost Tuesday against the Padres.

Cuddyer knocked in the first of two Mets runs with a single in the first inning. He scored the Mets' other run on a Wilmer Flores single in the sixth. Cuddyer is now on an eight-game hitting streak. He's hitting a respectable .271/.333/.409 with five home runs, 23 RBI, and 25 runs scored.
Jun 3 - 1:22 AM

Derek Norris went 2-for-4 with a walk and a two-run home run in Tuesday's win over the Mets.

Norris homered off of Noah Syndergaard in the fourth inning, extending the Padres' lead to 7-1. He has five home runs on the year now while hitting a productive .287/.327/.468 with 34 RBI. Norris is halfway to matching his season-high in home runs.
