Astros activated C Brian McCann from the 7-day disabled list.

McCann passed his concussion test earlier this week and claimed that he didn't need a minor league rehab assignment. He's expected to be in the starting lineup on Saturday.

Astros activated LHP Dallas Keuchel from the 10-day disabled list.

He'll jump right back into the rotation on Saturday against the Orioles. The left-hander has been outstanding this season, posting a 7-0 record, 1.84 ERA, 0.86 WHIP with a 54/14 K/BB ratio in 63 2/3 innings.
May 27 - 2:56 PM

Cardinals designated RHP Miguel Socolovich for assignment.

The right-hander has struggled mightily out of the Cardinals' bullpen this season, registering an 8.68 ERA, 1.66 WHIP and 14/4 K/BB ratio over 18 2/3 innings. Given how well he pitched the previous two seasons, he could attract interest on waivers.
May 27 - 2:30 PM

Cardinals purchased the contract of RHP John Brebbia from Triple-A Memphis.

It's the first trip to the big leagues for the 27-year-old hurler. He posted a 1.69 ERA, 0.79 WHIP and 29/5 K/BB ratio through 26 2/3 innings at Triple-A. Look for him to function in middle relief for the Cardinals.
May 27 - 2:28 PM

Mariners manager Scott Servais confirmed Saturday that James Paxton (forearm) will return from the disabled list to start against the Rockies on Wednesday.

That had been the target date all along and Paxton was able to avoid any setbacks in his recovery. The left-hander has been sidelined for nearly a month due to a strained forearm. Before landing on the shelf, he registered a 1.43 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 45/11 K/BB ratio in 37 2/3 innings across six starts.
May 27 - 2:11 PM

Felix Hernandez (shoulder) threw a successful 25-pitch bullpen session on Saturday.

The veteran right-hander came away from the session feeling good. He's scheduled to throw another one in a couple of days and if all goes well there could be cleared to throw to live hitters.
May 27 - 2:09 PM

Rangers claimed INF/OF Peter O'Brien off waivers from the Reds.

O'Brien spent just nine days in the Reds' organization before he was designated for assignment. He has plenty of power in his bat, but no true position defensively and far too much swing and miss in his profile.
May 27 - 2:05 PM

Rangers recalled RHP Dillon Gee from Triple-A Round Rock.

He's taking the place of the injured A.J. Griffin on the Rangers' roster. It's unclear if he'll also take his spot in the starting rotation, or if Tyson Ross will be doing that upon his return next weekend.
