Paul Goldschmidt is not in the Diamondbacks' lineup Sunday.

It looks to be a rare day off for the slugger. Yasmany Tomas is also sitting out, as the D'Backs have Daniel Descalso at first base and Chris Herrmann in left field.

Indians manager Terry Francona said Sunday that Danny Salazar will available out of the bullpen as soon as Wednesday or Thursday.

The skipper left open the possibility that Salazar could get a start at some point during the team's road trip that begins on Friday, but the talented-but-frustrating righty is headed for relief duty for now. That means Mike Clevinger and Josh Tomlin will keep their rotation spots with Corey Kluber (back) returning this week. Salazar ranks fourth in baseball with a 30.9 percent strikeout percentage, but he's also fourth in walk percentage at 11.9 percent. Additionally, he's served up 11 home runs and his 5.50 ERA ranks 83rd out of 93 qualifiers.

Pablo Sandoval (knee) will remain on his rehab assignment for at least another three days.

Sandoval is hitting just .143/.217/.238 so far in six games with Triple-A Pawtucket, so the Red Sox understandably want him to get his swing in order first before they activate him. Deven Marrero has been getting most of the starts at third base of late.
May 28 - 11:15 AM

Billy Hamilton is not in the Reds' lineup Sunday.

It looks to be a routine day of rest for the speedster. Scott Schebler has moved over to center field, Patrick Kivlehan is in right and Jose Peraza has ascended to the leadoff spot.
May 28 - 10:51 AM

Dee Gordon is not in the Marlins' lineup Sunday.

It's a regular day off. Christian Colon is at second base and J.T. Riddle is in the leadoff spot.
May 28 - 10:49 AM

Red Sox transferred INF Marco Hernandez from the 10-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.

The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for Blaine Boyer. Hernandez is out for the season following shoulder surgery.
May 28 - 10:48 AM

Rangers recalled INF/OF Drew Robinson from Triple-A Round Rock.

Robinson was hitless in two at-bats in a brief stint with the big club last month. He'll provide depth at multiple positions.
May 28 - 10:45 AM

Rangers placed LHP Dario Alvarez on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to May 26, with a left elbow strain.

It's unclear at this point how long he might be out. Alvarez has posted a 3.48 ERA out of the Rangers' bullpen this season.
