MLB Network's Jon Heyman reports MLB has suspended Hector Olivera 82 games for his involvement in an alleged domestic violence incident last month.

Olivera will not appeal the suspension, which was made retroactive to April 30. He'll be eligible for reinstatement on August 1. The Braves put Olivera on administrative leave after he was charged with misdemeanor assault and battery on April 13. The team tried to trade him after the incident but couldn't find any takers. The 31-year-old has hit .245 with two homers and 13 RBI across 30 big league appearances.

The Rangers will call up Jurickson Profar from Triple-A Round Rock on Friday.

That's when Rougned Odor will begin serving his seven-game suspension for punching Jose Bautista in the face. Profar is a shortstop by trade but will handle second base in Odor's absence. The 23-year-old hasn't appeared in a major league game since 2013. Profar could boost his trade value with a strong showing over the next week. He's played reasonably well for Round Rock this year, hitting .284 with five homers and four steals. The Rangers haven't announced who will go down in the corresponding roster move.

Rougned Odor's suspension has been reduced from eight games to seven.

His appeal was heard by the league on Tuesday. Odor will begin serving his ban on Friday. Jurickson Profar is expected to take his place on the active roster. This is probably as good a result as Odor could have hoped for. Some thought Odor actually got off easy after slugging Jose Bautista in a game last week. He's eligible to return June 4 against Seattle.

Ryan Hanigan (illness, neck) is not in the Red Sox's lineup Thursday against the Rockies.

He left Wednesday's game with an illness and is also battling a neck injury. Christian Vazquez will draw another start behind the plate. Blake Swihart, who is starting in left field, will fill in if Vazquez leaves early.

Brewers recalled RHP David Goforth from Triple-A Colorado Springs.

He's taking over for Chris Capuano, who was placed on the disabled list with elbow soreness. Goforth spent a couple weeks in the majors earlier this year, logging a 7.20 ERA over four outings. He's pitched to a 3.93 ERA in 13 appearances for Colorado Springs.
May 26 - 5:06 PM

Brewers placed LHP Chris Capuano on the 15-day disabled list with left elbow soreness.

Capuano must have hurt himself in Wednesday's outing against Atlanta. A starter for most of his career, the veteran has spent most of his last two seasons working in middle relief. Capuano has already undergone two Tommy John surgeries so his elbow issues are well-documented. David Goforth will take his place on the active roster.

Matt Wieters will start at catcher Thursday against the Astros.

That's only significant because it's his third consecutive start behind the plate. Wieters hasn't started three games in a row at catcher since April of 2014. That means Wieters is almost certain to get the night off Friday against Cleveland. Caleb Joseph would start in his place.
May 26 - 4:52 PM

Orioles released RHP Eric Fornataro.

He signed a minor league deal with Baltimore in April but only stuck for about six weeks. Fornataro posted an ugly 8.10 ERA in 10 appearances for Double-A Bowie before getting axed. The 28-year-old made eight appearances for the Cardinals in 2014 but hasn't been to the majors since.
