Cliff Lee was dominant in Wednesday's start against the Braves, but earned a loss despite allowing one run in a complete game on Wednesday.

Lee's only blemish came courtesy an Evan Gattis solo home run in the fourth inning that barely escaped the fence in the left field corner. Overall, Lee struck out 13, allowed 11 hits, and walked one. Over his first four starts, he has exemplified the vagaries of BABIP, but has also been around the strike zone a little too much, some might argue. Regardless, he now sports a 28:2 K:BB ratio.

Chase Utley's 16-game hitting streak dating back to last season was ended with an 0-for-4 performance in Wednesday's loss to the Braves.

Utley has been on fire to start the season, but Braves starter Julio Teheran was on point and the Phillies as a unit had trouble squaring him up. Utley's average drops to .449 and further regression is to be expected, but the second baseman has still shown he has plenty left in the tank.

Jason Heyward struck out four times in five at-bats, taking home the dreaded golden sombrero as the Braves defeated the Phillies on Wednesday.

Heyward wears the sombrero for the first time since May 12, 2012 and for the fifth time in his career overall. While it's hard to fault him for whiffing against Cliff Lee, Heyward hasn't done much with the bat to start the season, as his average sank to .145.

Chris Johnson singled three times in four at-bats in Wednesday's win over the Phillies.

Johnson, who hit .321 last season, hasn't been as solid with the bat in the early going, entering Wednesday night's game hitting .239. It's back up to .280 now.

Evan Gattis was all the offense the Braves needed, going 4-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's win over the Phillies.

Gattis knocked in the only run of the game when he hit a wall-scraping home run to left field off of Cliff Lee in the fourth inning. He also singled three times, bringing his average up to .378. Gattis now has six hits and three home runs in his last two games, both against the Phillies.

Coco Crisp (hamstring) is not in the Athletics' lineup for a third straight game Wednesday.

Like in Tuesday's game, Crisp will be available as a pinch-hitter. With a day off Thursday, A's manager Bob Melvin just wanted to maximize Crisp's rest to get the hamstring fully healed. Expect him back in the lineup on Friday.

Juan Lagares told the Newark Star-Ledger that his pulled right hamstring is "not that bad."

"I feel better now," Lagares said. Lagares received the results of his MRI Wednesday and met with the Mets' trainer to talk about treatment plans. He said he believes the injury is a one-to-two week injury, suggesting that he could be back after the 15 days are up. The Mets, however, are going to be cautious with their center fielder.

Chad Billingsley is dealing with tendinitis in his right elbow.

The good news is that there's no ligament damage in the elbow. Billingsley had a bullpen session Tuesday cut short due to discomfort in the elbow. He'll be backed off from his throwing program, so obviously his timetable for return moves back as well. It's unclear what that timetable looks like right now.
