Carlos Correa went 3-for-5 with a homer, a double and three RBI in the Astros' 16-4 rout of the Twins on Wednesday.

Correa was due to bust out with one of these; since hitting two home runs on April 6 he had remained quiet, going 23 straight games without a homer. There was no way American League pitchers were going to keep him down for much longer. He's back up to .276/.388/.469 for the year now.

Mike Fiers allowed four runs and nine hits in 4 2/3 innings Wednesday versus the Twins.

Fiers was served a win on a silver platter tonight, what with the Astros scoring six runs in the first two innings and nine through four. Fiers, though, gave up three in the third and one in the fourth and was finally pulled in the fifth with his pitch count up to 95. He's put himself in position to lose his rotation spot following the return of Lance McCullers from the DL.

Phil Hughes was tagged for six runs in two innings by the Astros on Wednesday.

Hughes is 1-5 with a 5.85 ERA. Things don't seem hopeless here -- his 22/8 K/BB ratio and four homers allowed in 32 1/3 innings aren't so bad -- but with Minnesota's defense downgraded and the team simply looking like a trainwreck overall, his fantasy upside seems pretty well shot.

Astros recalled OF Jake Marisnick from Triple-A Fresno.

Marisnick saw 10 at-bats in April, but the Astros optioned him to Triple-A at the end of the month after he managed just one hit (and six strikeouts) in his limited action. Still just 25, Marisnick slashed .236/.281/.383 with nine homers, 36 RBI, and 24 steals across 339 at-bats last season at the major league level. He won't see regular playing time, but if he can carve out a niche for himself, he at least makes for a speed option off the bench for fantasy owners in chasm-deep AL-only leagues.
May 5 - 12:09 AM

Jose Altuve went 3-for-5 with a homer, a double and three RBI versus the Twins on Wednesday.

That's eight homers in 106 at-bats for Altuve. In 2014, he had seven homers in 660 at-bats. He currently has five more extra-base hits (21) than he does strikeouts (16).
May 5 - 12:08 AM

Jason Castro went 2-for-3 with a homer, four RBI and two walks versus the Twins on Wednesday.

Castro was hitting .175/.299/.263 with no homers through Monday's action. Now he has two homers in two days, and he's upped his RBI total from two to seven.
May 5 - 12:05 AM

Astros optioned RHP Michael Feliz to Triple-A Fresno.

Jake Marisnick will take Feliz's roster spot. The 22-year-old right-hander struggled in his first three appearances, surrendering 10 runs (nine earned) over 7 1/3 innings Feliz actually pitched well in his last appearance, tossing two scoreless innings during Wednesday's romp over the Twins. He figures to earn future appearances this season if he can hold his own in the minors.
May 5 - 12:04 AM

John Ryan Murphy went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts on Wednesday, leaving him 3-for-40 on the season.

At least the Twins pitchers had been performing much better with Murphy catching than with Kurt Suzuki behind the plate, well, at least until they gave up 16 runs in this one. The Twins might opt to send down Murphy to give him a chance to sort through his offensive struggles in the minors.
