Michael Taylor had a sacrifice fly and a solo home run in a 1-for-3 effort as the Nationals beat the Marlins on Wednesday.

Taylor's sacrifice fly broke a 1-1 tie in the fourth inning. His eighth-inning solo home run made it a 7-2 game. The outfielder has gone yard three times in his last four games, running his season total up to nine with 41 RBI and a meager .242/.286/.381 triple-slash line.

Bryce Harper hit two home runs and knocked in four runs in a 3-for-4 effort, helping the Nationals take down the Marlins on Wednesday.

Harper drilled a three-run home run to break a 2-2 tie in the fifth inning, then added a solo shot in the eighth for good measure. That ends a nine-game homerless streak and allows Harper to retake the National League lead in home runs with 29. He carries a superb .335/.463/.690 batting line with 68 RBI.

Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports that the Phillies will acquire Jorge Alfaro, Jerad Eickhoff and Nick Williams as part of the Cole Hamels trade.

Grant also notes that both sides will be receiving other players in the deal as well, and the Rangers will be receiving cash. Expect the deal to be finalized and announced on Thursday.

J.J. Hardy hit a solo home run in a 1-for-3 effort as the Orioles shut the Braves out 2-0 on Wednesday.

Hardy's homer provided some insurance, pushing the Orioles' lead to 2-0 in the fourth inning against Michael Foltynewicz. The shortstop has yet to gather momentum at the plate, hitting .240/.271/.354 with seven home runs and 29 RBI on the year.

Jonathan Schoop went 1-for-2 with a walk and a solo home run as the Orioles narrowly defeated the Braves on Wednesday.

Schoop's homer, in the third inning off of Michael Foltynewicz, turned out to be the deciding factor as it broke a scoreless tie in the Orioles' shutout. The second baseman has gone yard seven times in 27 games this season while knocking in 15 and batting .268/.310/.561.

Michael Foltynewicz limited the Orioles to two runs in six innings, but took the loss on Wednesday.

It was his first start in nearly three weeks after a brief stint with Triple-A Gwinnett. The right-hander made two mistakes, resulting in solo home runs to Jonathan Schoop in the third inning and J.J. Hardy in the fourth. They were two of six hits Foltynewicz allowed along with two hits and eight strikeouts. He'll bring a 5.04 ERA, a 1.58 WHIP, and a 60/20 K/BB ratio over 60 2/3 innings into a home start against the Giants.

Travis d'Arnaud has completed his minor league rehab assignment and will rejoin the Mets on Thursday.

He has missed the past month with a left elbow sprain, but is now fully recovered and ready to provide an offensive jolt to the Mets. Before landing on the disabled list, the 26-year-old was hitting .296/.338/.535 with four homers and 17 RBI in 19 games.
Jul 29 - 10:11 PM

Chris Tillman delivered 8 2/3 scoreless innings to beat the Braves on Wednesday.

Tillman got the first two outs of the ninth inning on ground balls, but allowed a double to Cameron Maybin before Zach Britton entered the game to get the final out. Tillman used 95 pitches, limiting the Braves to four hits while walking none and striking out two. The right-hander has held opponents to two runs or fewer in six consecutive starts, doing wonders for his ERA which now stands at 4.35 with a 1.33 WHIP and an 80/42 K/BB ratio over 113 2/3 innings. Tillman will look to keep it going in Oakland versus the Athletics next.
