Eagles coach Doug Pederson said the team will continue to use a backfield rotation even when Ryan Mathews (ankle) is healthy.

Pederson confirmed Mathews' is dealing with some stiffness and swelling in the ankle he injured prior to training camp. He should be able to recover over the team's Week 4 bye, but he is looking at a timeshare with at least Darren Sproles and likely rookie Wendell Smallwood as well. Mathews is shaping up as a touchdown-dependant FLEX play at best.

Eagles coach Doug Pederson expects Zach Ertz (ribs) to play following the team's Week 4 bye.

Pederson also expects CB Leodis McKelvin to return. Dealing with a displaced rib, Ertz will have to get full medical clearance before he can return, but he has the bye week to get fully healthy before the trip to Detroit. He will be a great option in that matchup.

Pro Football Talk reports Adrian Peterson's (knee, injured reserve) "sole focus" is playing again this season.

ESPN's Britt McHenry reports Saints WR Willie Snead (toe, questionable) will not play Monday night against the Falcons.

This is not a huge surprise after Snead missed most of the practice week. With Snead out, rookie Michael Thomas and TE Coby Fleener should see more work in a great matchup. Thomas is available in over half of Yahoo leagues for players in need of a late replacement.

Saints SS Kenny Vaccaro (ankle, questionable) is expected to miss Monday night's game against the Falcons.

With big problems at corner, the Saints had been using a three-safety formation featuring Vaccaro, Jairus Byrd, and rookie Vonn Bell. With Vaccaro now sidelined, New Orleans is running out of options in the secondary. Matt Ryan, Julio Jones, and Mohamed Sanu should dominate Monday night.

Dolphins coach Adam Gase suggested C Mike Pouncey (hip) will not play Thursday night against the Bengals.

Even with fill-in C Anthony Steen dealing with a high-ankle sprain, the Dolphins are not going to rush Pouncey back without seeing him in practice. Kraig Urbik will likely draw the start at center Thursday night. Pouncey could return Week 5.

Coach Adam Gase suggested Arian Foster (groin) is not going to play Thursday night against the Bengals.

"We're going to make sure he's at the right place for us," Gase said. It was never likely Foster would return on a short week, but he could make it back for the Dolphins' Week 5 clash with the Titans. Miami will again turn to an underwhelming committee featuring Kenyan Drake, Jay Ajayi, Damien Williams, and Isaiah Pead. This is a situation to avoid.

The Miami Herald's Adam Beasley reports Dolphins TE Jordan Cameron will miss Thursday night's game against the Bengals because of a concussion.

Cameron has a long history with concussions, so it is possible this injury sidelines him for a while. Dion Sims should be close to an every-down player with Cameron out.
