Bill Burns finished 2-for-4 with a double, triple and two runs scored as the Athletics topped the Rockies 4-1 on Wednesday.

Burns, as he has been for much of the year, was the catalyst for the A's offense against Chad Bettis and the Rockies. The speedy outfielder tripled and scored in the third inning -- his fifth triple of the season -- and doubled and scored in the fifth. Burns is batting .320/.361/.430 with 34 runs scored and 16 steals on the year. Burns is owned in just 64 percent of Yahoo leagues, a number that should be higher given what he's shown to this point.

Sonny Gray (illness) was released from the hospital Wednesday.

Gray had been hospitalized since Tuesday due to "severe gastroenteritis." Despite feeling better, there's no clear picture of when the right-hander might make his next start.
Jul 1 - 7:08 PM

Billy Butler went 2-for-3 with a triple, an RBI and a run scored in Wednesday's win over the Rockies.

The second-inning triple was just Butler's fifth in 4,599 career at-bats. He scored later in the inning and added an RBI single in the fifth. The big man is batting .259/.323/.376 on the year.

Tyler Clippard got four outs Wednesday against the Rockies to earn his 14th save of the season.

Clippard was called on to get the final out in the eighth inning before working a perfect ninth to close it out. The right-hander struck out two without allowing a baserunner in the outing. Clippard now owns a 2.67 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 32/15 K/BB ratio over 33 2/3 innings on the year.

Taijuan Walker yielded just one hit over six scoreless frames Wednesday in the Mariners' 7-0 blanking of the Padres.

The only two blemishes of the afternoon for Walker happened in the bottom of the fourth, when Derek Norris got hit by a pitch and Yonder Alonso singled to center. Walker did meet with a trainer in the sixth inning, but it apparently wasn't anything serious. He was lifted for a pinch-hitter in the seventh after throwing 76 pitches. Walker has been terrific since late May and will look to keep it rolling next week versus the Tigers.
Jul 1 - 7:00 PM

Jesse Hahn limited the Rockies to one run over six innings to earn the win on Wednesday.

Hahn held the Rox to just four hits while walking two on the afternoon. The right-hander also struck out six hitters in the outing. Hahn has now won five of his last seven decisions to pull even at 6-6 overall. The right-hander owns a 3.35 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 64/25 K/BB ratio heading into a bout with the Yankees in New York on Tuesday.
Jul 1 - 6:57 PM

Robinson Cano finished 4-for-5 with a homer and three RBI in the Mariners' defeat of the Padres on Wednesday.

Cano hit a single in the fourth inning, a solo shot in the sixth inning, another single in the seventh inning, and an RBI double in the top of the ninth. It was one of his best games of the season. He's still batting just .247/.285/.365 in 75 total games.
Jul 1 - 6:54 PM

Chad Bettis allowed three runs over 5 2/3 innings in Wednesday's loss to the Athletics.

Bettis did well to limit the damage, giving up seven hits -- four of which went for extra bases -- and four walks in the outing. Still, he was on the wrong side of the affair, dropping to 4-3 on the year. The right-hander will carry a 3.67 ERA and 1.30 WHIP into Tuesday's meeting with the Angels.
