Greg Holland threw a perfect ninth inning to earn his 25th save of the season against the Tigers on Sunday.

Holland didn't allow a baserunner, fanning one in the inning. After a rough patch in the middle of June, Holland enters the break having allowed just one walk and no hits in his last five innings of work. The right-hander has a 1.82 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 53/10 K/BB ratio over 34 2/3 innings overall.

Rajai Davis went 3-for-3 with a run scored in Sunday's loss to the Royals.

Davis has enjoyed the month of July thus far, going 14-for-32 (.438) with five RBI and six runs scored. The emergence of J.D. Martinez has complicated the playing time in the Tigers outfield, but Davis' .296/.338/.432 line and 24 steals should continue to get his bat in the lineup semi-regularly in the second half.
Jul 13 - 6:07 PM

Bruce Chen allowed two runs on eight hits over 5 1/3 innings of a no-decision against the Tigers on Sunday.

Chen, who's filling in for Jason Vargas as he recovers from an appendectomy, struck out two without walking a batter on the day. He owns a 6.46 ERA and 1.66 WHIP through 30 2/3 innings as a spot starter and long reliever.

LHP Randy Wolf opted out of his contract with the Orioles.

The veteran southpaw has been toiling at Triple-A Norfolk where he registered a 4.20 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 12/5 K/BB ratio over 15 innings. He should be able to latch on elsewhere if he so chooses.
Jul 13 - 6:00 PM

Justin Verlander allowed four runs on six hits over 6 1/3 innings in a loss to the Royals on Sunday.

Verlander struck out just three on the afternoon, walking one, in his first loss since June 16. Even with an 8-8 record, it's been a first half to forget for the former American League MVP. Verlander owns a 4.88 ERA and 1.46 WHIP through 20 starts, and the second half doesn't hold much more promise for the 31-year-old.
Jul 13 - 5:59 PM

RHP Chien Ming Wang opted out of his contract with the Reds.

That now makes the 34-year-old right-hander a free agent. He was pitching decently at Triple-A Louisville, compiling a 3.70 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 50/45 K/BB ratio over 119 1/3 innings. He should be able to secure a minor league deal elsewhere.
Jul 13 - 5:53 PM

Carlos Gomez propelled the Brewers to a huge 11-2 win over the Cardinals on Sunday, going 3-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBI on the day.

Gomez wrapped up an MVP-like first half with a great showing, scoring in the first, fourth and sixth innings. Gomez is among the league leaders in runs, stolen bases, slugging percentage and OPS at the break. He owns a .304/.370/.510 line, with his next start coming in Tuesday's All-Star Game.
Jul 13 - 5:42 PM

Scooter Gennett finished up a strong first half with a good day on Sunday, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored.

Gennett hit a two-run double in the fourth inning, driving in two of the Brewers' 11 runs. The second baseman is among the National League leaders with a .309 batting average through a surprising first half. Gennett has a .828 OPS to go with seven homers and five stolen bases, and he's definitely a mixed league asset in the second half.
