Cubs prospect right-hander Ivan Pineyro continued his strong 2014 for Double-A Tennessee, striking out eight in 6 2/3 shutout innings on Friday.

Pineyro allowed just two hits and one walk, lowering his season ERA to 1.15 and WHIP to 1.021 while increasing his K/9 to 8.6. Pineyro lacks the blistering fastball of many top prospects, but good pitability and secondary pitches are turning him into an under the radar pitching prospect who could see time in Wrigley soon.

Athletics prospect outfielder Billy McKinney hit his sixth home run of the season for High-A Stockton on Friday.

He is hitting just .212/.288/.500 with 17 strikeouts in 14 games, so while the power surge is nice it would be good to see McKinney pick up his batting average. His BABIP is .186, so his average should increase as more batted balls fall in for hits. The Athletics are fast-tracking McKinney by putting him in High-A for his first full professional season, but he is unlikely to reach the major leagues until late 2016 at the earliest.

Jose Reyes will return to the Blue Jays lineup and his customary leadoff spot for Saturday's game against the Indians.

Reyes has been sidelined since Opening Day due to inflammation in his hamstring. He's been a very valuable fantasy commodity over the years when he's been on the field, though it's unclear how much the hamstring injury will affect his speed and ability to steal bases.

Astros outfield prospect Delino DeShields left the game on Friday after he was hit in the face by a pitch.

DeShields walked off the field under his own power and was taken to the hospital for X-rays. He was hitting .259/.385/.426 with two home runs for Double-A Corpus Christi in 2014.

Nationals activated OF Denard Span from the 7-day concussion disabled list.

Span is active and will return to the Nationals lineup on Saturday. He reported no issues after a pair of minor league rehab games with Low-A Hagerstown and isn't experiencing any post-concussion symptoms. Fantasy owners can safely insert him back into lineups.

Red Sox catching prospect Black Swihart went 2-for4 in the second game of a doubleheader, blasting his first home run of 2014 for Double-A Portland.

Swihart went 1-for-4 in the first game of the doubleheader while catching, then spent the second game as the designated hitter. He is hitting .333/.350/.513 with two doubles, one triple, and one home run through 10 games. Swihart has moved slowly through the Red Sox system and coule be in Boston by the middle of 2015 if he continues to produce.

Diamondbacks outfield prospect Stryker Trahan went 2-for-5 with a double on Friday, raising his season line to .228/.246/.439.

Trahan has hit .389/.421/.722 with three doubles and a home run over his past four games, and seems to be settling in to his new role as a corner outfielder. When he first was told of the position change, Trahan "thought it was a joke," but seems to be getting used to his new routine as an outfielder.

Xander Bogaerts is not in the Red Sox starting lineup on Saturday.

This is the first day of rest that Bogaerts has received this season. The 21-year-old shortstop is off to a strong start to the season, hitting .271/.411/.356 with a homer and three RBI in his first 17 games.
