Rays activated OF Carlos Gomez from the 10-day disabled list.

As anticipated, Gomez returned as soon as he was eligible from his right groin injury. He has been a major disappointment this season, slashing just .200/.252/.345 with five homers, 11 RBI and three stolen bases.

Rafael Devers is absent from the Red Sox' starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Braves.

It's just a routine day of rest for Devers against Braves' left-hander Sean Newcomb. Eduardo Nunez will start in his place at the hot corner and bat seventh for the Red Sox.

Blake Swihart is in the Red Sox lineup as the designated hitter for Saturday's showdown against the Braves.

Red Sox' manager Alex Cora said that Swihart would get more run after Hanley Ramirez was DFA'd on Friday, and it looks like he's true to his word. Swihart is batting eighth against Braves' southpaw Sean Newcomb on Saturday afternoon. With his catcher eligibility, he could be an interesting option in AL-only leagues and deeper two-catcher mixed leagues if he does indeed receive regular playing time.

Dustin Pedroia will make his 2018 debut on Saturday against the Braves.

Pedroia was activated from the disabled list on Friday but didn't appear in the game. He's starting at second base and batting sixth for the Red Sox against Sean Newcomb and the Braves on Saturday.

Nick Senzel continues to work out at the Reds' spring training complex in Arizona while recovering from vertigo.

The Reds' top prospect has been taking batting practice and fielding ground balls without issue. He's expected to soon receive clearance to begin playing in extended spring training games. The 22-year-old should still debut with the Reds at some point this season, but this health issue has certainly pushed that timeline back.

Anthony DeSclafani (oblique) is likely to make at least one more minor league rehab start after he struggled in Friday's outing at Triple-A Louisville.

The right-hander is eligible to be activated from the disabled list on Monday, but the Reds may want him to make another start in the minors after surrendering six runs over five innings in Friday's start. DeSclafani hasn't pitched in the big leagues since September of 2016.

Gary Sanchez (calf) went 1-for-3 and also drew a walk in his return to the Yankees' lineup on Friday.

Sanchez sat out Wednesday's game after leaving Tuesday's contest with cramping in his calf. The hard-hitting backstop leads all catchers with 33 RBI on the season and is slashing .230/.333/.539 with 12 home runs.

Noah Syndergaard yielded three runs over six innings in a no-decision against the Brewers on Friday.

Syndergaard allowed six hits — including a solo homer to Travis Shaw in the second inning — while striking out eight and walking none. He was only at 78 pitches through six innings, but Mets manager Mickey Callaway elected to have Jose Reyes pinch hit for him with a runner on first base and two outs in the top of the seventh. Reyes, who has been one of the worst players in baseball this season, grounded out. Syndergaard holds a 3.06 ERA and 76/13 K/BB ratio in 64 2/3 innings through 11 starts. He’ll get the Braves next on the road.
