Yankees recalled RHP Bryan Mitchell from Double-A Trenton.

Mitchell held a 5.14 ERA but struck out 20 over his first 14 Double-A frames. He'll give the Yankees some length in the bullpen with Vidal Nuno making a spot start Sunday.
Apr 20 - 10:01 AM

Yankees recalled RHP Preston Claiborne from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Claiborne allowed just one earned run over his first six relief innings at Triple-A to earn the promotion. He'll work in middle relief.
Apr 20 - 10:00 AM

Red Sox prospect second baseman Mookie Betts went 4-for-5 with his second home run of the season for Double-A Portland.

The 21-year old Betts is hitting .453/.492/.717 for the season, with four stolen bases to go with five walks and seven strikeouts. The slugging percentage is much higher than the 5'9" 160-pound Betts will achieve in the major leagues, but hitting .300 with 30-plus stolen bases is not out of the question. He's still blocked in Boston, but could be a big chip in a trade or be a solid fill-in if there is an injury, such as a recurrence of Dustin Pedroia's wrist injury.
Apr 20 - 10:00 AM

Logan Schafer has been unavailable the last few days due to hamstring issue.

Schafer felt a pop in his hamstring while stretching prior to a pinch-hitting appearance on Thursday. "It's a lot better (Saturday) than it was (Friday)," Schafer said. "I've never had any problems with my hammy or anything. It was a little weird. I'm just getting treatment and staying on top of it." Schafer is hoping to be available Sunday, but if he's not it's possible the Brewers will put him on the disabled list when they bring back Lyle Overbay from paternity leave.
Apr 20 - 9:53 AM

Blue Jays left-handed pitching prospect Sean Nolin struck out seven batters in six shutout innings, allowing three hits (two doubles) and one walk for Triple-A Buffalo.

Batters are hitting .175/.257/.270 against Nolin for the season, and he sports a sparkling 2.70 ERA and a 11.3 K/9. He profiles as a #4 starter with the possibility to be a #3 starter, so there's no need to snatch him up until there is an opening in Toronto.
Apr 20 - 9:47 AM

Kyle Seager is not in the Mariners' lineup Sunday.

Seager has struggled mightily in the early going, hitting just .161/.288/.232 with no homers. He's getting a breather while Willie Bloomquist fills in at third base. The M's are also resting Mike Zunino, as John Buck is handling the catching duties.
Apr 20 - 9:43 AM

Curtis Granderson is hitting in the No. 2 spot in Sunday's game versus the Braves.

Granderson is hitting only .154/.267/.288 with a homer and four RBI in his first 15 games as a Met, so manager Terry Collins has decided to move him out of the cleanup spot. Daniel Murphy, who is normally the No. 2 hitter, is now hitting fourth. Travis d'Arnaud and Ruben Tejada are getting the day off Sunday, with Anthony Recker and Omar Quintanilla filling in.

Red Sox prospect right-hander Anthony Ranaudo threw sit shutout innings on Saturday, allowing two hits and two walks while striking out five.

The line was very good and not spectacular, but it's the first quality start for Ranaudo in 2014. His ERA sits at 4.35 with a 3.88 FIP, so he may be pitching better than his ERA would indicate. He still sports a 9.1 K/9, so if he gets called up he could be a useful pitcher for fantasy purposes.
