Gary Sanchez drew a pair of walks and scored twice as the Yankees topped the Athletics on Saturday afternoon in New York.

Sanchez walked in the first inning and scored the game's first run on a sacrifice fly by Starlin Castro. He then walked and rode home on Matt Holliday's two-run blast in the sixth inning. Sanchez finished the day 0-for-2 and is now hitting .256/.358/.415 with four homers and 11 RBI on the year.

Matt Holliday blasted a two-run homer on Saturday, powering the Yankees to a 3-2 victory over the Athletics.

Holliday's two-run shot off of A's starter Jharel Coton broke a 1-1 tie in the sixth inning. He finished the day 1-for-3 and is now hitting .269/.365/.503 with nine long balls and 30 RBI on the season.

Dellin Betances recorded the final five outs on Saturday to preserve a one-run lead against the Athletics.

He earned his fifth save of the season for his efforts. He was called upon to protect a one-run advantage with two runners in scoring position and just one out in the eighth inning. Betances responded by whiffing both Tyler Plouffe and Chad Pinder to end the threat before working a scoreless ninth inning. He owns a spectacular 0.52 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 32/9 K/BB ratio over 17 1/3 innings on the season.

C.C. Sabathia picked up his fifth victory of the season on Saturday, striking out nine over 6 1/3 innings of two-run ball against the Athletics.

The veteran southpaw allowed six hits and three walks on the afternoon. All of the damage against him came late, with an RBI double from Ryon Healy in the sixth and a solo blast by Josh Phegley in the seventh. Now 5-2 on the season, Sabathia will carry a 4.42 ERA and 1.40 WHIP into Thursday's matchup against the Blue Jays in Toronto.
May 27 - 4:26 PM

Josh Phegley clubbed his second home run of the season in a losing effort against the Yankees on Saturday afternoon.

His solo shot off of C.C. Sabathia in the seventh inning pulled the A's to within a run at 3-2, but that would be as close as they would get. Phegley finished the afternoon 2-for-4 and is now hitting .250/.263/.429 with a pair of homers and six RBI in his limited action this season.
May 27 - 4:26 PM

Jharel Cotton surrendered three runs on two hits and three walks over 5 2/3 innings in a loss to the Yankees on Saturday.

Cotton struck out five on the afternoon and also hit a batter. He loaded the bases and allowed a sacrifice fly in the first inning, but that was it on the damage until Matt Holliday clubbed a two-run homer in the sixth. It was a solid return to the rotation for Cotton who continues to have mixed league appeal and could be available on waiver wires after his recent demotion. He'll take on the Indians in Cleveland on Thursday.

Jed Lowrie was ejected from Saturday's game against the Yankees for arguing balls and strikes.

Lowrie got run by home plate umpire Will Little after being called out on strikes in the eighth inning. Manager Bob Melvin was also tossed later in the same inning. Chad Pinder, who started the game at DH, replaced Lowrie at second base. Lowrie went 0-for-4 before exiting.

Logan Forsythe is not in the Dodgers' lineup Saturday against the Cubs.

He's out of the lineup for the second time in three days. Enrique Hernandez will fill in at third base and bat sixth against Cubs right-hander John Lackey. Forsythe has collected just one hit in 12 at-bats since coming off the disabled list earlier this week.
