The Cleveland Plain Dealer expects the Browns to re-sign free agent Miles Austin.

Austin is coming off a bounce-back season, posting a 47/568/2 line in 12 games prior to landing on I.R. With Josh Gordon suspended for 2015, he could be brought back as veteran depth. The Browns will likely be aggressive in upgrading at receiver this offseason.

Browns hired Kevin O'Connell as QBs coach.

A former Patriots third-round pick, O'Connell bounced around the NFL as a backup quarterback from 2008-12. He doesn't have any coaching experience, but worked extensively with Johnny Manziel prior to the 2014 draft. The Browns have also hired ex-Florida OC Kurt Roper as a senior offensive assistant.

Profootballtalk reports the Falcons plan to name Seahawks DC Dan Quinn head coach on Tuesday.

The Falcons have been linked to Quinn for weeks, but NFL rules prevent him from taking the job until Seattle's season ends. Kyle Shanahan has already been hired to run Quinn's offense, with Richard Smith and Raheem Morris expected to help coordinate the defense. Quinn will bring Seattle's highly-successful Cover-3 scheme to Atlanta. The Seahawks have led the league in total defense under Quinn the last two years.

Speaking at last week's Senior Bowl, Dolphins GM Dennis Hickey stated he believes rising second-year RB Damien Williams has an "ability to play on all three downs."

Hickey also praised Williams' special teams play and noted he likes young players help in that area before pushing for significant playing time. A 2014 UDFA, Williams is a plus pass blocker and caught 21 passes in limited action as a rookie. Williams has starting-caliber athleticism and size. He is a player to target in Dynasty trades with Lamar Miller entering a contract year.

Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said WR Marvin Jones (ankle, foot) is "progressing well."

Jones was placed on I.R. in October and didn't appear in any games this past year. He's recovering from foot surgery and a major ankle issue. Jones emerged as a red-zone threat in 2013 and will need to stay healthy to reestablish his value. 24-year-old Jones is entering the final year of his contract.

Bleacher Report's Will Carroll reports the injury that forced Seahawks SS Kam Chancellor (probable) from Friday's practice was just a bruise.

Chancellor fell directly on the knee late in practice, but he was able to walk off the field without a limp. His status for the Super Bowl is not in doubt.

Geno Smith has not received a definitive answer on his status with the Jets.

Smith has spoken to new coach Todd Bowles by phone, but it is unsurprising Bowles is hesitant to commit to the 2013 second-round pick. Smith has shown few signs he can be a competent starter, and the Jets could be position to draft either Marcus Mariota or Jameis Winston with the No. 6 overall pick. There is still a chance Smith opens 2015 as the starter, but the new Jets' regime will likely do everything in its power to upgrade.

ESPN Giants reporter Dan Graziano believes the Giants "will definitely make an effort" to sign impending free-agent DE Jason Pierre-Paul to a long-term deal.

Graziano also believes the franchise tag is an option, but that would cost the Giants roughly $15 million in 2015. New York will certainly try to retain JPP, but he has been too inconsistent throughout his career to devote a large chunk of guaranteed money. Pierre-Paul registered 12.5 sacks in 2014, but nine of those came in the final five games of the season.
