Franklin Gutierrez (illness) flew out as a pinch-hitter Monday against the Cardinals.

Gutierrez was removed from Sunday's game due to illness, but he should be fine moving forward. The 34-year-old is batting .257/.333/.429 with one home run and three RBI through 21 games this season.

Rays optioned RHP Jose De Leon to Triple-A Durham.

De Leon was called up Monday to provide bullpen depth and notched the win despite allowing three runs in 2 2/3 innings of relief. The 24-year-old should have a longer stay next time around.

Julio Teheran survived three solo homers in allowing three runs over 6 1/3 innings Monday in a victory over the Angels.

Andrelton Simmons, Albert Pujols and Luis Valbuena took him deep, but Teheran had six runs to work with tonight. He earned his fourth win to even up his record. His ERA sits at 4.82.

Ricky Nolasco fell to 2-5 after giving up six runs -- two earned -- in 2 2/3 innings Monday against the Braves.

Nolasco has been reliable since arriving from the Twins last summer, but he ran into all kinds of trouble in the third inning tonight and couldn't escape. Even before Cliff Pennington's error, he had giving up three hits and a walk. The Braves collected two more hits afterwards to take a 6-0 lead before Nolasco was finally pulled. He'll try to bounce back against his old teammates in Minnesota this weekend.

Albert Pujols hit a solo homer Monday in a losing cause against the Braves.

Pujols isn't a great hitter any longer, but he's had great RBI numbers hitting behind Mike Trout. That ends now, for the next six weeks at least. He might not be of any use in mixed leagues while Trout is out.
May 30 - 12:43 AM

Steven Souza went 4-for-5 with two doubles and four runs scored in the Rays' 10-8 win over the Rangers on Monday.

If it was the hand and wrist injuries that cause Souza's slump during the first three weeks of May, he seems to be over them now; he's 11-for-23 with three homers and four walks in his last six games. He's back looking like a mixed-league asset again now.
May 30 - 12:40 AM

Starting against the Rangers after pitching in relief Sunday, Erasmo Ramirez gave up four runs in 2 1/3 innings on Monday.

Ramirez shouldn't have been asked to make this start after saving Sunday's game against the Tigers. He ended up allowing three runs in the first, and his ERA increased from 2.92 to 3.66. Ramirez should remain in the rotation for now and pitch this weekend.
May 30 - 12:38 AM

Jose De Leon was credited with a win in his Rays debut after allowing three runs in 2 2/3 innings of relief Monday against the Rangers.

De Leon gave the Rays the innings they wanted after they called him this afternoon. They weren't all that impressive, though, as he allowed four hits, including a Shin-Soo Choo homer, and three walks. He'll probably head back to Triple-A now.
