Freddy Galvis went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI to help the Phillies top the Indians 4-3 on Saturday.

Galvis took Indians starter Trevor Bauer deep for a two-run shot in the first inning, but it was his RBI single in the bottom of the seventh that proved to be the difference in the game. Galvis now has three home runs, 10 RBI and 10 runs scored to go with a .233/.264/.419 line through 23 games.

Lonnie Chisenhall went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and a stolen base Saturday against the Phillies.

Making his first start after missing two games with a neck strain, Chisenhall enjoyed his best game yet. He doubled among his three hits and stole his first base of the season. Through seven games played, the 27-year-old is batting .227/.227/.364.

Darin Ruf had a double and a run scored in Saturday's win over the Indians.

The double was Ruf's first extra-base hit since April 17. It's been that kind of year for the 29-year-old, who's hitting just .206 with a .521 OPS to date. He's still without a homer after hitting 12 last season.
Apr 30 - 10:30 PM

Jeanmar Gomez worked into and out of trouble Saturday against the Indians, earning his eighth save of the season.

One-out singles by Jose Ramirez and Lonnie Chisenhall created some stress for Gomez, but he got Rajai Davis to ground out and Jason Kipnis to line out to end the game. The Phillies have been one of the biggest surprises of the season's first month and Gomez has been one of the biggest surprises on the Phils, earning eight saves with a 1.80 ERA and 1.00 WHIP after beginning the season as a middle reliever.
Apr 30 - 10:25 PM

Trevor Bauer allowed three runs over four innings in Saturday's start against the Phillies.

Making his first start of the season after spending the first few weeks in the bullpen, Bauer was pedestrian against an even more pedestrian Phillies lineup. He allowed five hits, including a Freddy Galvis two-run homer, and walked two while striking out four. Bauer has an unsightly 5.28 ERA and 1.63 WHIP this season with 18 strikeouts in 15 1/3 innings, but with Carlos Carrasco sidelined for at least the next month Bauer will likely remain in the Indians' rotation. He'll look for a better showing Friday against the Royals.
Apr 30 - 10:20 PM

Jerad Eickhoff allowed three runs over six innings in a no-decision against the Indians on Saturday.

Eickhoff gave up six hits without walking a batter and striking out four. A bad start against the Brewers his last time out has marred his numbers to an extent, but the 25-year-old has been largely good through five starts. The right-hander now owns a 4.15 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 32/5 K/BB ratio over 30 1/3 innings heading into Thursday's start at the Cardinals.

Hyun-Jin Ryu (groin, shoulder) threw a 40-45 pitch bullpen session on Saturday.

He was joined by Brandon McCarthy (elbow), who threw 50-60 pitches over three sessions. Ryu mixed in all of his pitches over two sessions. The plan is for him to throw one more bullpen session before advancing to facing live hitters. There's no timetable for Ryu's return.

Brandon McCarthy (elbow) threw a 50-60 pitch bullpen session on Saturday.

He was able to throw his full arsenal of pitches. Manager Dave Roberts noticed significant improvement from his previous bullpen session. "Brandon was good today," he said. "I saw him on Tuesday, and he was OK, but today the ball was coming out better for me." McCarthy has been focusing on building up his arm strength and repeating his mechanics. If McCarthy can avoid setbacks, he should return to the Dodgers' rotation before the All-Star break.
