Sean Manaea scattered nine hits while allowing one run in 5 2/3 innings Tuesday in a win over the Astros.

Manaea and Mike Fiers both got 17 outs tonight. Manaea allowed nine hits and three walks and was charged with one run. Fiers allowed four hits and one walk and was charged with four runs. That's just how baseball works sometimes. Manawa is now 7-4 with a 3.87 ERA.

Santiago Casilla notched his 14th save by pitching a scoreless ninth inning Tuesday against the Astros.

Casilla allowed two hits, but he escaped without any damage. While Casilla has blown just one of his last eight save chances, he's not exactly pitching well; he's given up three runs and 10 hits over his last six innings. He shouldn't have a lot of job security, especially now that Sean Doolittle is back and throwing well.

Mike Fiers was charged with four runs in 5 2/3 innings Tuesday in a loss to the A's.

Fiers deserved better; he left with the score tied 1-1 and the bases loaded with two outs in the sixth. James Hoyt took over and gave up a grand slam. If Hoyt had gotten that out, Fiers has a 3.66 ERA right now. Instead, he's at 3.98.

George Springer went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer and a walk versus the A's on Tuesday.

That makes 23 homers for Springer. If only he could steal a base, he'd be a top-five fantasy outfielder right now. However, he's 0-for-3 in steals this year after finishing 9-for-19 last year. He was actually effective stealing bases before that, going 21-for-27 over 180 games in his first two seasons.

Christian Yelich went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI as the Marlins topped the Mets 6-3 on Tuesday.

Yelich delivered a two-run single in the seventh inning, increasing the Marlins' advantage to 6-3. The 25-year-old outfielder is now hitting .274/.354/.394 with seven homers, 37 RBI and seven stolen bases on the season.
Jun 28 - 12:05 AM

Justin Bour went 2-for-4 and drove in a pair of runs on Tuesday as the Marlins topped the Mets.

Bour got the Marlins on the board with a two-run single in the first inning. He's in the midst of a breakout season offensively, slashing .293/.365/.572 with 18 homers and 50 RBI.
Jun 28 - 12:05 AM

A.J. Ramos pitched a scoreless ninth inning against the Mets on Tuesday, securing his 13th save of the season.

Ramos allowed a leadoff single to Jose Reyes, but nothing more came from it. The 30-year-old right-hander has now made good on 13 of his 14 save chances while compiling a 3.49 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 37/15 K/BB ratio across 28 1/3 innings.
Jun 28 - 12:05 AM

Dan Straily pitched well in a no-decision against the Mets on Tuesday, allowing two runs on five hits across five innings.

Straily walked one and struck out four on the night. He surrendered a leadoff homer to Curtis Granderson, then kept the Mets at bay aside from an RBI single by Travis d'Arnaud in the fourth. He'll carry an impressive 3.44 ERA and 1.10 WHIP into Sunday's matchup against the Brewers in Milwaukee.
