Nathan Eovaldi pitched well in a no-decision against the Mariners on Friday, allowing three runs (one earned) on seven hits over six innings.

Eovaldi punched out four on the evening while walking two. He’s been fairly impressive in the early part of the season, compiling a 3.55 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 23/3 K/BB ratio through 25 1/3 innings. He should be owned in all mixed leagues at this point, and has a decent matchup on tap against the Braves in Atlanta on Wednesday.

Brad Miller's struggles continued in Friday's loss to the Marlins, going 0-for-5 with an RBI.

The 24-year-old shortstop is now hitting just .203/.247/.377 through his first 16 games and has posted a 19/2 K/BB ratio. With Nick Franklin recalled from Triple-A, Miller will need to show something with the bat soon or he could start to lose a hold on his starting shortstop gig.
Apr 18 - 10:29 PM

Abraham Almonte doubled, tripled and scored a pair of runs in Friday’s loss to the Marlins.

He finished the night 2-for-5. He's now riding a five game hitting streak (7-for-22) that has seen his average climb from .217 to .246. With another pair of strikeouts on Friday though, he has now whiffed 25 times in his first 69 at-bats.
Apr 18 - 10:27 PM

Chris Young was hit hard in a no-decision against the Marlins on Friday, allowing four runs on seven hits in just three innings.

Young also issued three free passes and didn’t strike out a batter. While his 3.27 ERA looks alright, he has struggled with his command, posting a 1.55 WHIP and 4/6 K/BB ratio through his first 11 innings. He’s probably best left on the waiver wire, even with a juicy matchup at home against the Astros on tap for Wednesday.
Apr 18 - 10:24 PM

Carlos Gomez blasted his fifth home run of the season on Friday, powering the Brewers to a 5-3 victory over the Pirates in Pittsburgh.

Gomez finished the night 2-for-5 with a pair of RBI. His long ball, a towering shot to center off Charlie Morton in the fifth inning, proved to be the difference maker in the ballgame. He’s off to a tremendous start to the season, hitting .329/.385/.629 with five homers and 12 RBI in his first 17 contests.
Apr 18 - 10:19 PM

Francisco Rodriguez tossed a soreless ninth inning against the Pirates on Friday, earning his fifth save of the season.

The 32-year-old right-hander has been nothing short of dominant since taking over the closer's role from Jim Henderson an interim basis. He hasn't allowed a run in eight innings on the year, while posting a 0.62 WHIP and 13/2 K/BB ratio. There's no reason to believe that Jim Henderson will win his job back anytime soon.
Apr 18 - 10:19 PM

Kyle Lohse allowed three runs (one earned) in 6 1/3 innings on Friday, defeating the Pirates en route to his third victory on the young season.

Lohse allowed four hits and three walks while striking out five on the evening. The often underrated and overlooked right-hander now sits at 3-1 on the year with a 2.67 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 26/10 K/BB ratio in 27 frames. He’ll look to continue his dominance on Wednesday when he does battle against the Padres in Milwaukee.
Apr 18 - 10:16 PM

Russell Martin had a nice night at the dish in Friday’s loss to the Brewers, going 2-for-4 with a walk and a pair of RBI.

He got the Buccos on the board with an RBI groundout in the first inning and added an RBI single in the third to increase the advantage to 2-0. He’s off to a terrific start, hitting .292/.375/.438 with two homers and 11 RBI in his first 12 games. While he won’t continue at this pace, fantasy owners should continue to ride him while he’s hot.
