Lions activated RB Joique Bell (knee, Achilles') from the active/PUP list.
Bears No. 2 QB Jimmy Clausen has a concussion.
Clausen should be ready for Week 1, but it means he'll miss valuable reps in Thursday's preseason finale. It's also a concern after Clausen was concussed on a vicious hit late last season. Clausen is one of the league's poorer backups, but he could end up making starts if Jay Cutler's career continues its downward trajectory.
Texans waived WR Alan Bonner, WR Travis Labhart, OT Bryan Witzmann, OG Cody White, OT Aaron Adams, LB Jason Ankrah, NT Chris Neild, WR Jace Davis and DL Cameron McLeod.
It's the second straight season Bonner, a 2013 sixth-rounder, couldn't even survive until final cuts. Neild is an ex-seventh rounder who can't stay healthy.
Ravens LCB Lardarius Webb (hamstring) has resumed practicing.
The injury-prone Webb will end up missing the entire preseason, but he's on track for the opener in 13 days.
Ravens LG Kelechi Osemele (Achilles') has resumed practicing.
Osemele was unsure of his status 11 days ago, but he's now fully on track for Week 1. Osemele was one of the league's best guards last season.
Browns OLB Barkevious Mingo (knee scope) has resumed practicing.
Mingo is now on track to be healthy for Week 1, but he could be scratched after missing essentially the entire offseason and summer with various ailments.
ESPN Boston's Mike Reiss wouldn't rule out the Patriots making a run at free agent Fred Jackson.
Reiss isn't reporting the Pats are already displaying interest, but bases his guess on coach Bill Belichick's longtime affinity for his division rival, and the team's unsettled situation at running back. Ultimately, New England's backfield is probably already too crowded to add another cook to the kitchen.
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports the Steelers drafted Sammie Coates as insurance for Martavis Bryant (suspended).
The Steelers have reportedly been aware of Bryant impending four-game suspension since the spring. That fact helps to explain the selection of Coates and the depth chart position of Markus Wheaton. Coates could have a limited role while Bryant is sidelined, but he is not on the redraft radar.
