Seahawks TE Luke Willson will start while Zach Miller (ankle) is sidelined.
Willson, a 2013 fifth-rounder, is a toolsy pass-catching prospect who goes 6'5/251 with 4.51 speed. He can certainly stretch the seam Monday night against a Redskins defense getting shredded by tight ends, but volume in this spread-the-wealth passing attack will be a concern. Willson's snaps also project to be limited by his deficiencies as a blocker. We'd rather take a shot on Austin Seferian-Jenkins as a TE1 streamer.
The Lions worked out free agent RBs Tashard Choice and Alex Green.
With Montell Owens (hamstring) placed on I.R., the Lions are updating their emergency list. In addition to hosting both running backs, the Lions also had WRs Damian Williams and Ramses Barden in for tryouts. Choice is 29.
Lane Johnson was the Eagles' first-team right tackle in Tuesday's practice.
It's confirmation Johnson won't spend any time "getting up to speed" on the bench after he was suspended for the season's first four games. Johnson's return allows Todd Herremans to move back to right guard, greatly fortifying the Eagles' struggling line in the process. C Jason Kelce and LG Evan Mathis' absences will continue to loom large, however.
Jerick McKinnon (ankle) remained limited on Tuesday.
There's been zero concern surrounding McKinnon's status on a short week. The Vikings are just managing his reps after he touched the ball 19 times in Sunday's win over the Falcons. McKinnon is an upside FLEX play for Week 5.
Raiders owner Mark Davis admits he may contact ESPN's Jon Gruden about the team's coaching vacancy.
Davis also optimistically added that Gruden might contact him. Davis insisted the team's opening is an attractive one, bragging about salary-cap space and "some players." When quizzed about Reggie McKenzie's performance as general manager, Davis was a little more coy. "We'll find out," Davis told reporter Tim Kawakami. "Gotta win." Finally, Davis said he expects to have more involvement in the team's coaching search than when it hired Dennis Allen. It's going to be an interesting few months in Oakland.
Giants released WR Mario Manningham with an injury settlement.
Manningham was on injured reserve with a calf issue. Not the same since tearing his ACL in 2012, Manningham will likely struggle to find a new home. Now 28, he caught 51 passes in 18 combined games for the 49ers in 2012-13.
Bears waived LB Terrell Manning.
Manning had appeared in just one of the Bears' first four games. The 2012 fifth-round pick of the Packers is running out of NFL chances.
Chiefs activated RT Donald Stephenson from the reserve/suspended list.
Stephenson should immediately reassume starting duties from Ryan Harris, who has been ineffective in his absence.
