Giants released 1B/OF Kyle Blanks.

Blanks was hitting just .232/.315/.390 at Triple-A Sacramento and the Giants have decided to move on. Now 30, Blanks has had trouble staying healthy and/or productive in his chances at the big league level.

Sean Manaea will be moved up from Saturday to Friday to start versus the Yankees.

It looks like Kendall Graveman is headed to the disabled list with an undisclosed injury, as Manaea is moving up a day and Jharel Cotton is being recalled to start Saturday. Manaea has allowed six runs over 10 innings in his two starts since returning from a DL stint of his own.

Joe Stiglich of NBC Sports California reports that the Athletics will recall Jharel Cotton to start Saturday versus the Yankees.

Stiglich has also reported that Sean Manaea will move up from Saturday to start Friday in place of Kendall Graveman, who could be headed to the disabled list with an undisclosed injury. Cotton was demoted earlier this month after posting a 5.68 ERA over seven starts, but he's rebounded with a 2.25 ERA and 13/1 K/BB ratio over 12 frames in his first two outings for Triple-A Nashville.

Joe Stiglich of NBC Sports California reports that Sean Manaea will move up to start Friday versus the Yankees in place of Kendall Graveman.

Stiglich adds that Jharel Cotton is a possibility to be recalled to start Saturday in what had been Manaea's slot. It sounds like Graveman may be dealing with an injury, although it's unclear at this point what it is. He spent time on the disabled list last month with a shoulder issue.

MLB Network's Jon Morosi reports that the Tigers will make all veterans available via trade if they're still under .500 by the end of June.

It's the same stance they seemingly had going into last winter before they wound up essentially just standing pat. However, the Tigers have an aging roster that seems unlikely to be in the thick of the playoff race and also the desire to cut payroll, so it's not hard to see the writing on the wall here. Morosi notes that Justin Wilson drew the most interest of any Tigers player last offseason and that interest has surely only piqued given how good he's been in the first two months. However, we could see Detroit unload several players, from impending free agent J.D. Martinez to possibly even Justin Verlander. The Tigers are currently two games under .500 and 4.5 games behind the Twins in the American League Central.

White Sox recalled RHP Tyler Danish from Triple-A Charlotte.

Danish will start the second game of Friday's doubleheader against the Tigers, and it's possible he'll be needed for more starts with Dylan Covey (oblique) out. The righty has put up a 3.15 ERA and 23/13 K/BB ratio over 45 2/3 frames at Charlotte this season and is a poor streaming option.
May 26 - 12:50 PM

White Sox recalled RHP Juan Minaya from Triple-A Charlotte.

Minaya holds a 1.23 ERA and 11/4 K/BB ratio over 14 2/3 relief innings at Charlotte this season. He'll be used in the middle of games.
May 26 - 12:48 PM

White Sox placed RHP Dylan Covey on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to May 24, with a left oblique strain.

Covey suffered the injury during Tuesday's start. It's unclear at this point how much time he might miss, but oblique injuries almost always require a longer than minimum DL stay. Tyler Danish is making a start during Friday's doubleheader and it's possible he'll stay around to fill Covey's rotation spot.
