Todd Frazier will serve as the designated hitter Monday against the Red Sox.

The move will allow the struggling slugger to get somewhat of a breather. Matt Davidson will start at the hot corner.
May 29 - 10:29 AM

Leury Garcia is not in Monday's lineup against the Red Sox.

It sounds like a routine day off. Adam Engel will cover center field while Tim Anderson will slide into the leadoff spot.

Tony Cingrani (oblique) will begin a minor league rehab assignment Monday with Class A Dayton.

Cingrani has been out since April 18 due to a right oblique strain, but he's finally ready to return to game action. He should be ready to rejoin the Reds' bullpen in early June if all goes well. The southpaw had a 1.93 ERA through five appearances prior to the injury.

Chris Heisey (biceps) will begin a minor league rehab assignment Monday with Double-A Harrisburg.

It's a rapid turnaround for Heisey, who suffered a right biceps rupture while taking a dry swing during batting practice last week. He doesn't need surgery and will attempt to play through it. The plan calls for him to stay in Double-A through Wednesday before being re-evaluated.

Daniel Nava (hamstring) will begin a minor league rehab assignment Monday with Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Nava suffered a left hamstring strain last weekend, but it shouldn't be long before he rejoins the Phillies. The 34-year-old was batting .305/.425/.458 with two homers over 29 games prior to the injury.

Dennis Lin of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports that the Nationals are among the teams who have interest in reliever Brad Hand.

This comes days after Lin reported that Hand is "drawing keen interest" around the league. It's no surprise that the Nationals are one of the teams in the mix, as they have an obvious need in their bullpen. They could end up acquiring multiple relievers by July 31. Hand, 27, has compiled a dominant 1.93 ERA and 36/11 K/BB ratio over 28 innings this season. He'll be arbitration-eligible for the second time this winter.
May 29 - 9:44 AM

The Twins are expected to call up right-hander Drew Rucinski, reports Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press.

Rucinski has made one appearance with the big club this season and owns a 2.95 ERA and 21/3 K/BB ratio over 18 13/ innings in Triple-A. The 28-year-old figures to pitch in middle relief in his return to the majors.
May 29 - 9:29 AM

Phillies optioned RHP Zach Eflin to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Eflin was hammered for seven runs over five innings Sunday in a loss to the Reds and now owns a 6.13 ERA through eight starts this season. Nick Pivetta and Ben Lively are the most likely alternatives to take his spot in the rotation.
