The Twins are moving Trevor May to the bullpen.

There was speculation Minnesota would go with a six-man rotation upon Ervin Santana's return, but clearly that's not happening. Manager Paul Molitor said May's move to the pen isn't permanent and suggested the Twins could reassess the rotation after the All-Star break.

Astros optioned OF Domingo Santana to Triple-A Fresno.

The Astros needed to clear a roster spot for Jake Marisnick. Santana hit .256 with 2 HR and 8 RBI during his 14-game stint with Houston. The 22-year-old has a higher ceiling than Alex Presley and could get another call-up while George Springer is on the disabled list with a broken wrist.

Josh Hamilton is not in the Rangers' lineup Saturday against the Angels.

He'll sit out against southpaw Hector Santiago. Ryan Rua will get the start in left field and bat second. Hamilton went 1-for-3 Friday in his first game against the Angels since getting traded earlier this year.

J.B. Shuck played the role of hero on Saturday, delivering a pinch-hit RBI double in the eighth inning to break a tie and propel the White Sox to a 3-2 victory over the Orioles.

He pinch-hit for Geovany Soto with a man on second and one-out in the eighth inning, greeting Darren O'Day with a double to right field to break the 2-2 deadlock. Shuck has played well in his limited playing time this season, slashing .292/.358/.333 with no homers and six RBI in 72 at-bats.

Jeff Samardzija pitched brilliantly in a no-decision against the Orioles on Saturday, allowing just one run on three hits over 7 2/3 innings.

The Shark racked up nine strikeouts on the afternoon while issuing a pair of free passes. The only damage against him came on an inherited runner that rode home on Manny Machado's home run after Samardzija had departed. A popular name in trade rumblings, he'll carry a 4.33 ERA and 97/22 K/BB ratio into Thursday's start against the Blue Jays.
Jul 4 - 5:09 PM

Manny Machado blasted his 17th home run of the season in a losing effort against the White Son on Saturday.

His two-run bomb off Zach Putnam in the eighth inning pulled the O's even at 2-2, but wound up being the extent of their offense on the afternoon. He's having an unbelievable first half, slashing .302/.357/.527 with 17 homers and 46 RBI.

Reds manager Bryan Price said moving Tony Cingrani (shoulder) into the starting rotation is a "possibility."

Cincinnati plans to stretch Cingrani out in the minor leagues while he rehabs his injured shoulder. Cingrani went 2-7 with a 4.68 ERA in 11 starts for the Reds last season. The Reds are expected to deal Johnny Cueto before the trade deadline, which would create an opening in the starting rotation.

Chris Tillman was hit hard once again in Saturday's loss to the White Sox, allowing two runs on 10 hits in his 4 2/3 innings of work.

Tillman recorded four strikeouts on the afternoon while walking only one. The right-hander continues to have a very disappointing season, registering a 5.57 ERA, 4.60 xFIP and 60/37 K/BB ratio over 84 innings. He'll attempt to turn things around on Friday when he takes on the Nationals.
