Michael Saunders drilled a two-run homer in a loss to the Rockies on Wednesday.

He took reliever Mike Dunn deep in the eighth inning with his team down by seven runs. Saunders went 1-for-2 with a walk in the game and is now batting .229/.279/.403 with five home runs and 17 RBI on the season.

X-rays taken on Jarred Cosart's foot after Wednesday's win over the Mets were negative.

Cosart was hit on the foot by a Michael Conforto liner in the first inning. He toughed it out for a few innings before being pulled with two outs in the third having allowed four runs. He is considered day-to-day moving forward.

Jose Iglesias went 3-for-4 with a homer, a double and three runs scored to lead the Tigers to a 6-3 win over the Astros on Wednesday.

Iglesias was hitting .159/.185/.222 with one RBI in 63 at-bats this month before driving in two runs tonight. He's back over the Mendoza Line now.

Jeremy Hellickson was shredded for seven runs in five innings in a loss to the Rockies on Wednesday.

He can't use Coors Field as an excuse either since this game was played in Philadelphia. He actually tossed four scoreless frames interrupted by a seven-run outburst in the third inning. He walked two batters in that inning and gave up six hits, including a three-run bomb by Carlos Gonzalez. Hellickson gave up a total of eight hits and four free passes while notching only two strikeouts in the contest. He had been having a strong season, entering the day with a 5-1 record and 3.44 ERA despite his 3.62 K/9 being the worst in the league by a wide margin. He falls to 5-2 with a 4.28 ERA after 10 starts.

Daniel Norris did a fine job against the Astros on Wednesday, allowing two runs -- one earned -- over 6 1/3 innings in a no-decision.

Spotty control has led to spotty results for Norris this year, but the talent hasn't gone anywhere and his rotation spot remains safe. He's 2-3 with a 4.38 ERA in nine starts. His ERA stands at 4.13 in May.
May 24 - 11:42 PM

Shane Greene retired all five batters he faced and was credited with a win in relief Wednesday against the Astros.

Greene showed plenty of potential as a reliever last year, but he couldn't keep his ERA down in the process. This year, he's allowed just three runs in 22 2/3 innings. He's struck out 27 and walked 10 in his setup role.
May 24 - 11:39 PM

Chris Devenski took his third loss after giving up two runs in an inning Wednesday against the Tigers.

We don't see why the Astros are risking running Devenski into the ground when they're sporting baseball's record. Devenski had just pitched 2 2/3 innings on Monday, so he was working on one day of rest tonight. He entered the game at 27 innings pitches this season. The next highest total of any Astros reliever was 19 2/3 innings for Will Harris.
May 24 - 11:38 PM

Justin Upton went hitless in a fourth straight start Wednesday and is now hitting just .229.

Upton's OPS fell below .800 tonight. He ended April at .968, but he's hitting just .160 with three homers, five RBI and 31 strikeouts in 75 at-bats this month. The Tigers need him to rediscover his stroke soon.
