James Paxton (shoulder) will throw a bullpen session Saturday.
Paxton will start Thursday at Low-A Everett in his first rehab assignment. He has been out since early April with a shoulder injury.
Jose Abreu slugged his 29th home run of the season Saturday as the White Sox beat the Indians 6-2.
Abreu hit his two-run shot off Indians starter Zach McAllister in the top of the fourth inning. The sensational rookie slugger is on pace for 49 home runs and 124 RBI.
Padres optioned RHP Jesse Hahn to Triple-A El Paso.
Hahn should return after the All-Star break. He was sent down so that the Padres could add an extra infielder for their final two games of the season's first half. Hahn is 5-2 with a 2.21 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, and 47 strikeouts in 40 2/3 innings (seven starts) this year for San Diego.
Padres recalled INF Jace Peterson from Triple-A El Paso.
Peterson will give the Padres some needed infield depth. He has hit well this season at the Triple-A level, but that success has not translated to the major leagues.
Rangers optioned LHP Aaron Poreda to Triple-A Round Rock.
Poreda has a 5.91 ERA, 1.73 WHIP, and 21 strikeouts in 21 1/3 innings of relief this season for the Rangers. The left-hander will probably get another look soon.
Athletics placed INF Alberto Callaspo on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right hamstring.
Callaspo was originally expected to avoid the disabled list but the A's have now decided to rest him through the All-Star break. Andy Parrino was called up from Triple-A Sacramento in a corresponding move.

Parrino is replacing Alberto Callaspo, who was placed on the disabled list in a corresponding move with a hamstring strain. Parrino is a .185/.295/.245 career hitter.
Dexter Fowler (intercostal) is on track to return to the Astros' active roster on Friday.
Fowler was hoping to return this weekend, but he'll get some additional rest over the All-Star break. He has been out sine late June with an intercostal strain.
