Billy Hamilton (hamstring) went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored in his return to the lineup Friday.

Hamilton didn't start Thursday after leaving Wednesday's game with a tight left hamstring. The situation is worth watching because of his speed, but the Reds aren't overly concerned. Getting a few days off with the All-Star break should help.

Casey Janssen set down the Rays in order on Friday, securing his 14th save of the season.

Tasked with protecting a three-run advantage, Janssen made quick work of the heart of the Rays lineup, needing just 11 pitches to wrap the game up. Since returning from the disabled list, he has posted a stellar 1.29 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 13/1 K/BB ratio through his first 21 innings.

Devin Mesoraco slugged a solo home run Friday against the Pirates.

His eighth-inning blast sparked what proved to be the game-winning rally for the Reds. After struggling in part-time duty over his first couple of seasons in the majors, the 26-year-old backstop has been a revelation this season. He's now batting .303 with 16 home runs and 44 RBI over just 58 games.
Jul 11 - 10:58 PM

Andrew McCutchen was 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk, and two runs scored Friday against the Reds.

McCutchen has gone deep three times in his last seven games and is now up to 15 home runs on the season. The 27-year-old is hitting .372 (16-for-43) this month and owns a fantastic .321/.418/.552 batting line through 91 games this season. With a career-high walk rate, he's really the total package right now.
Jul 11 - 10:57 PM

Mark Buehrle lasted just five innings in a no-decision against the Rays on Friday, allowing a pair of runs on nine hits.

The veteran southpaw also walked one while striking out three on the night. He departed in line for his 11th victory, but his bullpen was unable to hold onto a 5-2 lead. He’ll head into the All-Star break with an impressive 10-6 record, 2.64 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 73/32 K/BB ratio over his first 126 1/3 innings.

Sean Rodriguez belted a game-tying three-run homer in the seventh inning of Friday's loss to the Blue Jays.

The dramatic blast came off Dustin McGowan, pulling the Rays all the way back from an early deficit. He finished the night 1-for-4 and is now hitting a mere .238/.288/.510 on the season to go compliment his nine homers and 32 RBI.

Ben Zobrist went 2-for-5 with an RBI in Friday's loss to the Blue Jays.

His RBI single off Mark Buehrle in the fourth inning pulled the Rays to within 5-2 at the time. With the two-hit effort, he's now hitting .268/.353/.406 on the season to go along with six homers and 22 RBI.
Jul 11 - 10:55 PM

Chris Archer was hit hard in a no-decision against the Blue Jays on Friday, surrendering five runs on six hits over his five innings of work.

The young right-hander also issued three free passes while punching out seven on the night. The Jays broke through for three runs in the third inning, and added on a two-run single by Jose Reyes with two outs in the fourth to complete the damage. Even with the rough outing, Archer finishes the first half of the season with a 3.41 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 101/45 K/BB ratio over his 113 1/3 innings.
