Mike Minor (shoulder) is expected to see Dr. James Andrews early next week.

Minor was scratched from Sunday's start against the Astros due to tightness in his throwing shoulder and the Braves want him to get checked out. The southpaw dealt with shoulder issues last year en route to a disappointing 4.77 ERA, so this is a concerning development.
Mar 5 - 4:18 PM

Yoenis Cespedes (back) is scheduled to return to action Saturday against the Braves.

Cespedes was scratched from Thursday's lineup due to tightness in his lower back. The Tigers don't have him on their travel roster for Friday, but it's clearly not a major concern.
Mar 5 - 4:15 PM

Yunel Escobar was scratched from Thursday's Grapefruit League game against the Mets due to general soreness.

The soreness is apparently due to the extra work he has been putting in with his transition to second base. He should be ready to go in a day or so.
Mar 5 - 4:11 PM

Carlos Martinez impressed in a win over the Marlins on Thursday, striking out three in two perfect innings.

Even after trading Shelby Miller, the Cardinals will have just one rotation spot for Martinez, Jaime Garcia or Marco Gonzales, assuming their top four stays healthy. The winner of the battle will be worth picking up in mixed leagues, but it's too early to make a call there. Martinez has excellent raw stuff and the most fantasy upside of the bunch.
Mar 5 - 3:46 PM

Dan Haren yielded two runs and three hits in two innings Thursday in a loss to the Cardinals.

Haren has never been one to worry about spring performance; he had ERAs of 6.39 and 6.00 the last two years, and he's been under 4.00 just once since 2006. We're not sure how good he'll be once the season starts, but it's not going to affect his draft stock whether he has a 9.00 ERA or a 2.00 ERA this month.
Mar 5 - 3:44 PM

David Phelps pitched a pair of hitless innings, getting five outs on the ground, Thursday versus the Cardinals.

The Marlins rotation appears set with Dan Haren committing to the team, so Phelps will probably open up in middle relief. He should be the top fallback if someone gets hurt, though, and he's worth a late-round pick in NL-only leagues.
Mar 5 - 3:40 PM

Batting sixth for the Marlins, Marcell Ozuna struck out in both of his at-bats Thursday versus the Cardinals.

Ozuna is a very popular outfield pick this year, but we'd like him better if the Marlins hadn't signed Michael Morse and penciled him into the cleanup spot. Hitting sixth isn't likely to lead to very good run and RBI numbers for the 24-year-old. He'll probably need to overtake Morse in the lineup to fulfill his destiny as a top-25 outfielder.
Mar 5 - 3:38 PM

Yu Darvish was pulled from his Cactus League debut after one inning Thursday due to right triceps tightness.

Darvish had a flawless first inning, ending the frame with a nasty strikeout of Kendrys Morales, but the Rangers didn't let him go back out there for the bottom of the second. Texas is calling the departure a precautionary measure, but Darvish is going to reevaluated by team doctors on Friday. He missed the last seven weeks of the 2014 season because of right elbow inflammation.
