Jets claimed TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins off waivers from the Bucs.

Speaking Monday, coach John Fox called Jay Cutler (thumb) "day to day" ahead of the Bears' Week 4 date with the Lions.

Fox is averse to giving legitimate injury updates, but Cutler was reportedly politicking to play last week and might have a chance to return sooner rather than later. We'll be monitoring his situation throughout the week.

Coach Ben McAdoo said Monday the Giants will use a "committee" to replace Shane Vereen (torn triceps).

Early-down grinder Orleans Darkwa and passing-game specialist Bobby Rainey are expected to see the biggest bumps in playing time, at least until Rashad Jennings (thumb) comes back. Rookie Paul Perkins has been strictly a special teamer. Darkwa is expected to start against the Vikings in Week 4 if Jennings isn't ready. The Giants have a brutal forthcoming schedule from a run-defense standpoint (@ MIN, @ GB, vs. BAL, vs. LAR, vs. PHI, vs. CIN).

Shane Vereen (torn triceps) could return later this season if the Giants designate him their I.R./return player.

This is the case for any player designated as I.R./return. NFL Network's Mike Garafolo insists Vereen's season isn't necessarily over, although he's certain to miss at least two months. Vereen can be dropped in all re-draft leagues.

Cardinals TE Troy Niklas has a wrist injury that "could be severe."

Niklas has only one catch, and played a modest 29.3 percent of the Cardinals' snaps. Darren Fells and Jermaine Gresham have both been on the field more, and would see their playing time spike if Niklas is sidelined for an extended period.

Coach Mike Zimmer said Monday that first-round pick Laquon Treadwell isn't playing because "he's still thinking too much."

Treadwell was a healthy scratch in Week 3, even with Charles Johnson struggling mightily. Zimmer did praise Treadwell for having a "good attitude" while riding the bench. Current X receiver Johnson has just 20 receiving yards on ten targets through three games, and was held catch-less in Sunday's win over Carolina. It's only a matter of time before Treadwell supplants him.

Bengals coach Marvin Lewis believes Tyler Eifert (ankle) is "close" to returning.

Eifert got in some limited practices last week, suggesting he could indeed be ready for Thursday's game against the Dolphins. Lewis has already said Eifert will probably be on a snap count as he first comes back. Eifert will be a touchdown-dependent, low-end TE1 if he suits up for Thursday Night Football.

Michael Floyd is in the league's concussion protocol.

Floyd was evaluated and cleared on Sunday, but had a headache on Monday. It's bad news for a player off to a slow start. Floyd's status will be updated no later than Wednesday, when the Cardinals issue their first Week 4 injury report. An absence against the Rams would create a big opening for John Brown, who is off to a shaky start after concussion issues of his own.
