Yadier Molina passed concussion tests after leaving Monday's game.

Molina looked a little dazed after taking a foul tip and was eventually removed because he was "not feeling well," according to the Cardinals. However, manager Mike Matheny said the catcher was dealing with dehydration more than anything else. Molina should be back in there on Tuesday.

Trevor Rosenthal set the Reds down in order in the ninth inning for his 31st save as the Cardinals won 4-1 on Monday.

Rosenthal struck out Eugenio Suarez, got Skip Schumaker to pop out, and Billy Hamilton to ground out to end the game. The right-hander has been battling some elbow troubles, responsible in some part for his allowing at least a run in five of 12 appearances this month. Rosenthal, this season, is 31-for-33 in save chances with a 1.71 ERA and a 52/16 K/BB ratio in 47 1/3 innings.

Lance Lynn fired seven innings of one-run ball to earn the win on Monday against the Reds.

The Reds took a temporary 1-0 lead in the third inning on Jay Bruce's sacrifice fly, but were otherwise not able to muster an offensive against Lynn. The right-hander gave up five hits and three walks while striking out five in the effort. Lynn now boasts a terrific 2.71 ERA, a 1.22 WHIP, and a 124/37 K/BB ratio over 116 1/3 innings. He'll host the Rockies this weekend.

Raisel Iglesias allowed a grand slam, accounting for all four runs in his six innings of work during Monday's loss to the Cardinals.

The Cardinals loaded the bases on a double, a single, and a hit batter when Kolten Wong unloaded them with two outs in the fourth inning. Iglesias otherwise kept the Cardinals off the board, yielding six hits while striking out seven and issuing zero walks. He's winless in five starts since rejoining the rotation, carrying an overall 5.53 ERA, 1.48 WHIP, and 42/13 K/BB ratio in 40 2/3 innings. Iglesias faces off against the Pirates at home next.
Jul 27 - 11:04 PM

Kolten Wong hit a grand slam, the only offense the Cardinals needed to beat the Reds on Monday.

Wong, who finished 1-for-3, cleared the bases and the fence in right-center in the fourth inning when he took Raisel Iglesias yard. The second baseman now has 11 home runs, leaving him one shy of tying last year's total. Wong has also knocked in 42 runs, stolen 11 bases, and compiled a .275/.337/.433 triple-slash line for the Red Birds.

Brad Boxberger picked up his 25th save with a scoreless ninth inning in Monday's 5-2 victory over the Tigers.

Boxberger struck out J.D. Martinez and Nick Castellanos, issued a walk to Alex Avila, then got Jose Iglesias to ground out to end the game. The right-hander is now 25-for-27 in save chances on the year with a 3.10 ERA and a 51/20 K/BB ratio over 40 2/3 innings.

USA Today's Bob Nightengale reports that the Dodgers "have let teams know that Yasiel Puig is available in the right deal."

However, he also adds that "teams are showing much more interest in their prospects." That's not altogether surprising, given that the Dodgers have one of the better farm systems in the game and have elite prospects like Corey Seager and Julio Urias. Puig is having a disappointing season with a .253/.327/.423 batting line and just six homers, but he's just 24 and is under team control cheaply through 2019. CBS Sports' Jon Heyman has reported previously that the Dodgers have told Puig he will not be traded.
Jul 27 - 10:56 PM

Nate Karns got the win on Monday against the Tigers after limiting them to a lone run in six innings of work.

Karns tossed six shutout innings, but allowed a leadoff home run to Yoenis Cespedes in the seventh. Victor Martinez added a single before the right-hander was lifted. They were two of three hits he allowed on the night with no walks and three strikeouts. Karns has limited the opposition to two or fewer runs in seven of his last eight starts and now boasts a 3.37 ERA with a 1.21 WHIP and a 106/40 K/BB ratio over 115 innings. He'll face the Red Sox at Fenway Park next.
