Brewers RHP prospect Corbin Burnes struck out nine over 6 1/3 scoreless innings in his start on Thursday for Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Burnes allowed just three hits, and he walked one. A fourth-round pick in 2016 out of St. Mary's, Burnes has seen his stock elevate quickly thanks to his three above-average pitches -- and a solid fourth as well -- and his ability to locate them where he wants to. The 23-year-old looks like he's close to ready for big-league action, and he could be starting games for Milwaukee by the end of the season.

Dodgers C prospect Keibert Ruiz went 4-for-5 on Thursday for Double-A Tulsa.

Ruiz also scored two runs. The 19-year-old backstop has more than held his own at the Double-A level, hitting .286 with two homers over his first 11 games in the Texas League. He has a chance to hit for average because of his quick, compact right-handed swing, and there should be some more power coming as he gets stronger. This is a high-upside catching prospect who also has some safety because he's a quality defender behind the plate. He could be the everyday catcher by the summer of 2019.

The Angels are expected to recall Jaime Barria to start Sunday versus the Giants.

Barria was sent down earlier this month even after allowing just one run over five innings in his major league debut, but he didn't have to wait long for another shot. It's possible the 21-year-old could stick around longer this time with the Angels' injury issues in their rotation. Barria is a worthy streamer in deeper leagues against an inept Giants offense.

Cardinals RHP prospect Jack Flaherty went seven innings while allowing one run for Triple-A Memphis on Thursday.

Flaherty allowed just two hits, and he walked one while striking out six. The right-hander is off to an excellent start for the Redbirds, who also pitched exceptionally well for St. Louis in his spot start to begin the season. The stuff and command are both ready to go, so it's just a matter of when he's throwing innings for the Cardinals again.

Blue Jays recalled INF Lourdes Gurriel from Double-A New Hampshire.

Gurriel really struggled in his first taste of pro ball last season but was off to a .347/.382/.510 start with one homer and one steal at New Hampshire. The 24-year-old gives the Jays another option at both second base and shortstop. How much he'll wind up playing remains to be seen, but he's worth a shot in AL-only leagues.

Blue Jays optioned INF Gift Ngoepe to Triple-A Buffalo.

Ngoepe has just one hit in 18 at-bats for the Jays this season. Lourdes Gurriel is replacing him on the roster.

Blue Jays optioned LHP Tim Mayza to Triple-A Buffalo.

Mayza has been up for a week and a half but made just one scoreless appearance. He should get another shot eventually.

Blue Jays activated DH Kendrys Morales from the 10-day disabled list.

Morales missed the minimum amount of time with a Grade 1 right hamstring strain. With the Blue Jays deciding to keep Teoscar Hernandez on the roster for now, it's possible Morales could be benched a little more often moving forward.
