Braxton Miller (shoulder) is out for Week 14 against the Colts.
He's dealing with a sprained shoulder and is week to week. Tyler Ervin (ribs), Tom Savage (elbow) and Jaelen Strong (ankle) have also been ruled out for Sunday. Miller has been a non-factor this year with just 15 catches for 99 yards and one touchdown over 10 appearances.
Dolphins coach Adam Gase said MLB Kiko Alonso will be a game-time decision (thumb, hamstring, doubtful) against the Cardinals in Week 14.
It's odd that Gase would make this claim but still list Alonso as doubtful. If there was a real chance of him playing, the Dolphins easily could have listed him as questionable. Earlier, beat writer Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald said Alonso would be absent this week, barring a "miraculous improvement to his hamstring." Mike Hull will be at the ready in the likely event that Alonso sits.
NFL suspended Browns WR Jordan Payton four games for violating the league's performance-enhancing drugs policy.
It'll end Payton's season. A fifth-round pick out of UCLA, Payton earned only 30 snaps on offense while wallowing behind Terrelle Pryor, Corey Coleman, Andrew Hawkins, Ricardo Louis, and Rashard Higgins on the Browns' wide receiver depth chart. Payton may be hard pressed to make the Browns' 2017 roster, but he will be given every opportunity in next year's training camp.
DeVante Parker (back) is questionable for Week 14 against the Cardinals.
He was upgraded to a full practice on Friday and should be all systems go for Sunday. Facing a difficult matchup against Patrick Peterson, Parker will be a tough sell as a WR3 this week.
John Brown (illness) is questionable for Week 14 against the Dolphins.
He put in two limited practices this week. Brown's sickle-cell issues haven't gone away and it looks like he'll be on a snap count until further notice. Fantasy owners should be looking elsewhere.
Pittsburgh DC Keith Butler plans on using a variety of defensive schemes to limit Buffalo QB Tyrod Taylor's rushing impact.
Taylor leads NFL quarterbacks with 469 rushing yards, a factor the Steelers hope to take away. "Sometimes you can spy. Sometimes you’ve got to rush spy. Sometimes you’ve got to rush four. Sometimes you’ve got to drop in zone coverage and keep your eyes on the quarterback as much as you can," said Butler. Pittsburgh has allowed just 10.0 points per game in the last three weeks while the Steelers D/ST has turned in three consecutive top-10 fantasy performances. The Steelers D/ST will be a mid-tier fantasy option in frigid conditions at Buffalo in Week 14.
Suspended Raiders OLB Aldon Smith met with commissioner Roger Goodell on Friday to discuss his reinstatement.
The NFL was expected to make a ruling on Smith's reinstatement last week but obviously that didn't happen. After finally getting a face-to-face with Goodell, Smith's status should be determined in relatively short order. Smith has been serving an indefinite suspension following repeated violations of the league's substance abuse policy. The former first-team All-Pro hasn't played an NFL snap in over a year.
The Jacksonville defense is 2nd in the NFL in pass defense, surrendering just 196 passing yards per game.
The Jaguars' success in pass defense is encouraging, but has been undone by a sub-par run defense and an NFL-worst turnover differential of -18. The Jaguars D/ST will host the Minnesota Vikings' underwhelming offense in Week 14 but will remain an unstartable fantasy option, as the unit has just two top-10 fantasy finishes in 12 tries.
