R.A. Dickey pitched decently in a no-deision against the Braves on Saturday, allowing four runs on four hits over his seven innings of work.

The veteran right-hander racked up six strikeouts on the afternoon while issuing four free passes. He also gave up a pair of homers, with Freddie Freeman and A.J. Pierzynski each taking him deep. Dickey will carry a 3.26 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 16/12 K/BB ratio into his next start against the Rays in Tampa Bay on Friday where he'll again search for his first victory.

Freddie Freeman homered for the second consecutive game in a losing effort against the Blue Jays on Saturday.

Freeman entered with terrific lifetime numbers against knuckleballer R.A. Dickey and delivered a two-run bomb off the veteran right-hander in the third inning. Freeman finished the day 2-for-4 and is now hitting .256/.319/.581 with four long balls and eight RBI on the season.
Apr 18 - 4:02 PM

Alex Wood posted a quality start in a no-decision against the Blue Jays on Saturday, allowing three runs on nine hits over 6 2/3 innings of work.

Wood walked two and failed to record a strikeout in the ballgame. All of the damage against him came on a three-run uprising before he was chased in the seventh. Wood has struggled in the early going, registering a 3.93 ERA and 1.58 WHIP through his first three starts. He'll hope for better results when he takes on the Phillies in Philadelphia on Friday.

Red Sox signed RHP Denny Bautista to a minor league contract.

The 32-year-old hurler hasn't pitched in the big leagues since he was a member of the Giants during the 2010 season. He should be considered a long-shot to make an impact with the Red Sox this season.

Ryan Braun is serving as the Brewers leadoff hitter for the first time in his career on Saturday.

Braun has struggled in the early going, slashing just .226/.250/.226, so perhaps the move was made to try to get him going. With Carlos Gomez sidelined, the Brewers are in desperate need of a spark atop their lineup.
Apr 18 - 3:48 PM

Royals placed RHP Greg Holland on the 15-day disabled list with a right pectoral strain.

Holland hasn't allowed a run in four appearances this season, but must have incurred the injury during Friday's appearance. Wade Davis will presumably handle the ninth-inning gig while Holland is sidelined and is a tremendous addition in any mixed leagues where he's unowned.
Apr 18 - 3:43 PM

Kevin Kiermaier is not in the Rays starting lineup on Saturday.

The outfielder is batting an illness and is feeling a bit under the weather. He should be ready to return to the lineup in a day or two.
Apr 18 - 3:31 PM

Shane Victorino was scratched from the Red Sox lineup on Saturday due to sore ribs.

Victorino smashed into the outfield wall on Friday trying to take a home run away from Caleb Joseph, which caused the injury. He should be able to return to active duty in a day or two.
