Daniel Murphy went 4-for-4 with two runs scored in Friday's loss to the Cubs.

He got lucky on one of the hits, as Murphy hit a chopper that bounced off the first base bag and went over Anthony Rizzo's head. Still, he's been one of the best hitters in the game so far this season with a .406/.452/.660 batting line. The .406 average is tops in baseball.

Wilson Ramos singled and belted a two-run homer in Friday's loss to the Cubs.

He launched a mammoth shot off of Justin Grimm in the eighth inning which cut the Cubs' lead to two, but that's as close as the Nationals got. Ramos has been one of the best hitting catchers in baseball for the first month of the season, sporting a .351/.360/.554 batting line with three homers and 12 RBI.

Brayan Peña (knee) hit off a tee Friday and ramped up his running on a treadmill.

Peña has missed the first month of action after surgery to remove loose cartilage from his left knee. He should be ready to go before the end of the month.
May 6 - 5:11 PM

Brian Dozier is absent from the Twins' lineup Friday.

It appears to be a routine day off. Eduardo Nunez is handling second base and batting second for Minnesota.
May 6 - 5:08 PM

Ryan Howard is not in the Phillies' lineup Friday.

With the Marlins throwing southpaw Wei-Yin Chen, Howard is sitting in favor of Darin Ruf. Howard has just 13 plate appearances versus lefties this season and is batting .167/.154/.417.
May 6 - 5:06 PM

Shin-Soo Choo (calf) will head to the Rangers' spring training complex on Monday.

He's expected to be there for four days before being cleared to begin a rehab assignment, so Choo should play in official games late next week. The veteran outfielder has missed the last month of action with a strained calf but is tracking toward a mid-May return.
May 6 - 5:04 PM

Brett Gardner (elbow) is back in the Yankees' lineup Friday.

Gardner didn't start Thursday after being hit on the right elbow by a pitch Wednesday, but he's fine. The Yankees also have Ronald Torreyes at third base over Chase Headley.
May 6 - 4:54 PM

Matt Adams (quad) expects to be available off the bench Friday.

Adams left Thursday's game with a bruised quad, but he's expected to be fine. He's not starting Friday but surely wouldn't have been even at 100 percent with the Pirates throwing lefty Francisco Liriano.
