Athletics activated C Josh Phegley from the 10-day disabled list; optioned him to Triple-A Nashville.

Phegley's fractured right hand has healed, but there's no room for him on the major league roster. He'll provide depth in the minors.

Twins activated RHP Phil Hughes from the 10-day disabled list.

Hughes will make his season debut on Sunday against the Rays. The veteran right-hander holds a 5.91 ERA over the last two seasons and underwent a second thoracic outlet surgery last August. He can't be trusted in fantasy leagues.
Apr 22 - 8:36 AM

Yasmani Grandal went 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored in Saturday's 4-0 victory against the Nationals.

Grandal has hit safely in 10 straight games, going 14-for-40 (.350) with six runs scored, two homers, 11 RBI and five walks during the impressive streak. He'll work against RHP Jeremy Hellickson on Sunday in the series finale. He doesn't have a long history against the righty, but he is 3-for-6 with a double and a solo home run in their brief encounters.
Apr 22 - 3:21 AM

Stephen Strasburg allowed two earned runs, five hits and two walks with a season-high 10 strikeouts over seven innings in a road loss against the Dodgers.

Strasburg's only two mistakes were solo homers to Joc Pederson and Enrique Hernandez, but that was enough to turn a quality start into a loss. Hyun-Jin Ryu was tossing up donuts on the other side and was just a touch better. Strasburg has three quality starts in five outings this season, and he'll look to keep it going on Friday against Zack Godley and the Diamondbacks at Nationals Park.
Apr 22 - 2:59 AM

Joc Pederson finished 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's home win against the Nationals.

Pederson's homer was impressive, as it came off of fireballer Stephen Strasburg in the second winning to open the scoring. After a 4-for-27 (.148) start over his first 13 games he has picked up the pace with a pair of multi-hit outings over his past three contests. While he still isn't worth touching outside of deeper NL-only fantasy leagues right now, watch his progress this week. If he stays hot he'll be worth plucking off the waiver wire in all NL formats.
Apr 22 - 2:45 AM

Hyun-Jin Ryu allowed just two hits and three walks over seven scoreless innings while striking out eight batters Saturday against the Nationals.

Ryu has posted three consecutive quality starts, posting a 3-0 record with a 0.95 ERA, six hits, four walks and 25 strikeouts over 19 innings during the impressive span. The southpaw will look to continue his winning ways in his next scheduled start in a favorable matchup against Derek Holland and the Giants at AT&T Park on Friday.
Apr 22 - 2:39 AM

Jefry Marte finished Saturday's 4-3 win against the Giants with a solo home run in two at-bats.

Marte was lifted for a pinch hitter in the seventh inning, but not before he raised his season average to .371. After a blistering start to the season Marte has cooled off a bit, although this was his first homer of the 2018 campaign. He'll look to keep it going in Sunday's series finale against RHP Johnny Cueto.
Apr 22 - 2:22 AM

Mike Trout finished 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and a solo home run in Saturday's 4-3 victory against San Francisco.

Trout entered the game with three total extra-base hits over his past eight outings. The three extra-base hits were his most in a single game since he also had two doubles and a home run in a game June 27, 2016 against Houston. RHP Johnny Cueto will look to cool off Trout in Sunday's series finale. Trout is just 1-for-6 (.167) with a strikeout in their brief dealings.
