Kris Bryant is missing a second straight start Sunday because of a sore left shoulder.

The Cubs believe at this time that the ailment is minor, so Bryant should return sometime during the early-week series against the Dodgers unless he has a setback. Ian Happ is at third base Sunday.

Twins recalled RHP Alan Busenitz from Triple-A Rochester.

Busenitz was with the Twins briefly in April and has had an excellent year for Rochester with a 1.27 ERA and 32/5 K/BB ratio across 28 1/3 innings. He'll work in middle relief.

Jerry Blevins will start for the Mets in Sunday's game against the Dodgers.

Blevins would figure to be available for two innings max, as the Mets are going with a "bullpen game" in place of previously scheduled starter Jason Vargas (calf). It will be the first major league start for the 12-year veteran.

Diamondbacks recalled RHP Braden Shipley from Triple-A Reno.

Shipley has tossed three scoreless relief innings during his brief time with the big club this season. He'll operate in long relief.
Jun 24 - 10:27 AM

Diamondbacks optioned RHP Jake Barrett to Triple-A Reno.

Barrett has given up three runs over 5 1/3 relief innings for the D'Backs this season. Braden Shipley is replacing him in the bullpen.

Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports that the Rangers have made Adrian Beltre available via trade.

Beltre has 10-and-5 rights and thus has the ability to veto any trade, but the 39-year-old could be willing to approve a deal in order to get a shot to play in the postseason. Grant says that the Rangers are also willing to listen to offers for relievers Keone Kela and Jake Diekman. Beltre has dealt with injuries this season but is sporting a .314/.365/.456 batting line. It's been reported previously that the Phillies are one club known to have interest in him.

Greg Bird is not in the Yankees' lineup Sunday.

Bird has just one hit over his last six games, so it's probably a good time for a breather. Neil Walker will handle first base.
Jun 24 - 10:16 AM

John Gant will start for the Cardinals on Monday against the Indians.

He's taking Michael Wacha's (oblique) spot in the rotation. Gant will be pitching on three days' rest, although he threw just 41 pitches in a relief appearance Thursday. He will have an opportunity to earn additional starts, but Gant will have to pitch well since the Cards have other options.
