Kenny Stills (quad) is considered questionable for Week 1.

Stills sat out each of the first two preseason games due to his quad and then aggravated it on Saturday night. Recurring soft-tissue injuries are never good, especially this close to the opener. The Saints should play it safe considering all the depth they have at wideout: Marques Colston, Brandin Cooks, Nick Toon, Robert Meachem, Joe Morgan.

The Patriots asked Logan Mankins to take a pay cut before trading him to the Bucs.

Mankins was scheduled to make $6.25 million this season and $6.75 million in both 2015 and 2016. He wisely balked at a cut, knowing plenty of teams would be willing to pay for a borderline Hall of Fame guard that's been a top-10 run-blocker in PFF's grades for seven straight years.

Browns sources tell ESPN's Adam Schefter that the team is "baffled as to why Josh Gordon ruling has taken so long."

It's been nearly four months since news of Gordon's latest failed drug test broke and almost four weeks since his appeal hearing. Yet all we know is that the decision is expected "soon." The lengthy delay in the process has not only jammed up fantasy owners, but is also unfair to the Browns and Gordon. A Stage 3 violation results in a one-year ban, not a 16-game ban. NFL Network's Albert Breer relayed this nugget Wednesday morning: "One theory I've heard that makes sense on the Josh Gordon delay -- Arbitrator would much rather the sides settle than make a call himself."

Jacob Tamme is a candidate to get some slot work if Wes Welker (concussion) misses time.

Emmanuel Sanders has tons of experience in the slot and would make the most sense there in the event of a Welker absence. But the Broncos would likely mix and match, with Tamme getting some packages. Still, our preferred stash here is Cody Latimer as the best red-zone threat and most talented player. He'd play outside while Sanders goes inside.

The Patriots are still hoping DL Dominique Easley (knee) will be ready Week 1.

Easley has missed each of the first three preseason games and won't play Thursday night either as he comes off a torn ACL. An early return to health by the No. 29 overall pick would be another boost to a Patriots defense that already projects to be excellent this season.

Chiefs signed G/C Mike McGlynn.

McGlynn was just released by the Redskins as they made their way to 75 players Tuesday. He can provide depth at the three interior line spots and has 48 career starts under his belt. McGlynn was Andy Reid's fourth-round pick with the Eagles in 2008 and spent three years in Philly with Big Red.

Josh Gordon's DWI hearing has been pushed back to November 18.

This DWI has nothing to do with the year-long ban Gordon is facing for failing at least his third drug test. This is a separate incident, as Gordon was pulled over at 3am on July 5th in North Carolina and recorded a .09 BAC. The legal limit is .08. Since the case has not been finalized, it should have no impact on the pending appeal. Somehow, Harold Henderson and the NFL still haven't announced their decision.

Cardinals G Jonathan Cooper (toe) returned to practice this week.

The embattled Cooper has decided to play through pain as doctors have assured him his toe can't get worse. He's going to get 20-25 snaps in Thursday's preseason finale. Regardless, Cooper is not expected to start at left guard over Ted Larsen, a massive disappointment for the No. 7 pick in 2013.
