Joakim Soria retired the Yankees in order in the ninth inning, recording his fifth save on Monday.

Soria got Brett Gardner to ground out, followed by fly outs from Alex Rodriguez and Mark Teixeira. The right-hander, filling in for Joe Nathan in the closer's role, is 5-for-5 in save chances with a 1.35 ERA and a 4/0 K/BB ratio in 6 2/3 innings.

Yoenis Cespedes knocked in the eventual game-winning run with a seventh-inning single on Monday against the Yankees.

The Tigers had just tied the game at 1-1 with J.D. Martinez's RBI single, and Cespedes immediately followed up with a tie-breaking RBI single of his own. It wasn't quite as good as his two-homer, six-RBI performance on Sunday, but the Tigers will take it. The slugger is batting .302 with three home runs and 11 RBI on the season.

Mark Teixeira homered in a losing effort versus the Tigers on Monday.

Teixeira, who finished 1-for-3, took Alfredo Simon out to right field in the second inning to put the Yankees up 1-0, but it would turn out to be his team's only run on the evening. Teixeira had entered the game hitless in his last three games. He's batting .195 with four home runs and nine RBI so far this season.

Mitch Harris will be called up by the Cardinals prior to Tuesday's game.

It's a cool story, as Harris is a Naval Academy graduate who didn't make his professional debut until he was 27 because he was serving his country. Now 29, Harris boasts a 2.78 ERA with 76 strikeouts over 94 career minor league innings. He'll likely only be up for a few days while Peter Bourjos is on paternity leave.

Peter Bourjos will be placed on paternity leave prior to Tuesday's game against the Nationals.

He'll be allowed to be away from the club for up to three days. Mitch Harris will replace Bourjos on the active roster.

Jonathan Lucroy had to leave Monday's game against the Reds after being hit in the left foot by a foul tip.

The Brewers just can't catch a break right now. It's not clear whether Lucroy might be sent for X-rays, as the club is simply calling it a "left foot injury" at the moment. More should be known after the game

Allen Webster has been placed on Triple-A Reno's disabled list due to right shoulder fatigue.

The shoulder issues should help to explain Webster's 19.29 ERA through his first two outings for Reno. It doesn't seem serious, as the D'Backs only expect him to miss a couple starts, but obviously he's not going to be an option for the big club for a while.
Apr 20 - 8:51 PM

Nolan Arenado was scratched from Monday's lineup with a sore left wrist.

It's not clear at this point how Arenado injured the wrist or how serious the setback might be. The Rockies should provide an update on the third baseman shortly. Rafael Ynoa took Arenado's spot at the hot corner.
