Brett Gardner is out of the Yankees' starting lineup on Tuesday night against the Rangers.

Giancarlo Stanton is in left field and batting third, with Aaron Hicks in center field and hitting leadoff versus Rangers left-hander Cole Hamels. Tyler Austin is at DH and Neil Walker is playing first base.

MLB.com's Anthony DiComo reports that the Mets are working toward a deal with Jose Bautista.

DiComo notes, however, that the Mets are not the only team showing interest in Bautista, who was released by the Braves on Sunday after batting just .143/.250/.343 over 40 plate appearances. It sounds like the 37-year-old will have a new home by the end of the day Tuesday. He would likely play the corner outfield in New York after struggling defensively at third base in his short time with Atlanta.

Michael Lorenzen (shoulder) will be activated off the disabled list Wednesday.

Lorenzen has worked four scoreless innings on his rehab assignment at Double-A Pensacola. The 26-year-old setup man was placed on the disabled list at the end of spring training with a right shoulder strain.
May 22 - 4:52 PM

Matt Grace (groin) is scheduled to throw live batting practice on Friday.

If that goes well, he should be cleared to resume his minor league rehab assignment. Grace has been on the disabled list since April 21 because of a groin strain. He had to be pulled away from pitching in rehab games earlier this month after tweaking his groin at Triple-A Syracuse.
May 22 - 4:38 PM

An MRI taken Monday on the right elbow of Blake Wood showed damage to his ulnar collateral ligament.

That's a diagnosis that often leads to Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery, but Wood will seek an additional opinion before any decisions are made on that front. He's been on the disabled list since April 22.
May 22 - 4:35 PM

Aledmys Diaz (ankle) is expected to begin a minor league rehab assignment by the end of this week.

Diaz began running over the weekend and has also started to incorporate agility drills into his workouts in recent days. The shortstop has been on the disabled list since May 8 because of a severe left ankle sprain. He should be ready to return to the Blue Jays' active roster in early June.
May 22 - 4:33 PM

Jaime Garcia (shoulder) is scheduled to throw a side session later this week.

Garcia was placed on the 10-day disabled list May 18, retroactive to May 16, with inflammation in his left shoulder. He has a long history of shoulder (and elbow) troubles, so this figures to be an extended absence. The 31-year-old southpaw holds a 6.28 ERA in 38 2/3 innings (eight starts) this season.
May 22 - 4:32 PM

Marcus Stroman (shoulder) began a throwing program on Monday.

Stroman is at the Blue Jays' spring training complex in Dunedin, Florida and will likely be brought along slowly in his recovery from right shoulder fatigue, which has been a lingering issue for the 27-year-old starter. He had a 7.71 ERA through his first seven outings this season with Toronto.
