Chris Tillman has been tagged as the Orioles' Opening Day starter.

No surprise here. The 26-year-old Tillman is Baltimore's ace and pitched to a 3.34 ERA over a career-high 207+ innings in 2014, marking the second-straight year he's gone over 200 IP. Over the last three seasons, he holds a 3.42 ERA and 1.195 WHIP.

Red Sox released RHP Felipe Paulino.

Paulino would have been owed a $100,000 retention bonus if the Red Sox had opted to keep him. The righty has dealt with a myriad of shoulder issues over the last two seasons. While he was healthy this spring, he pitched just four innings in competition for a bullpen role.

Rays released INF Alexi Casilla.

Casilla hit .278/.328/.340 with 20 stolen bases in 60 minor league games last season, but appeared in just one game with at the big league level for the Orioles. The former Twin was looking to lock down a backup infield gig with the Rays.

According to Eduardo A. Encina of The Baltimore Sun, the Orioles have acquired C Audry Perez from the Rockies.

No word yet as to who the Rockies will be receiving in return. Perez will start his journey with the Orioles in Triple-A. With starting catcher Matt Wieters on the DL, the Orioles are clearly looking at as many options as possible. Caleb Joseph is currently slated to start, with Steve Clevenger, Ryan Lavarnway and J.P. Arencibia among the other catchers who could see at-bats if Joseph struggles.

Elvis Andrus (back) is set to resume baseball activities on Wednesday.

Said Andrus, "There's nothing to worry about." He was scratched from the lineup on Monday with a stiff lower back, but it doesn't sound major. The shortstop has been raking this spring, slashing .389/.410/.639 in 39 plate appearances.
Mar 31 - 12:18 PM

Rangers released RHP Jamey Wright.

Wright posted an ERA of 9.64 in 9+ innings this spring. At the age of 40, his chances of finding work elsewhere are dim. Wright last pitched at the MLB-level for the Dodgers in 2014.

Yankees manager Joe Girardi said that there was no timetable for the return of Didi Gregorius (wrist).

The Yankees need to see the swelling in Gregorius' left wrist subside before they're able to give an estimate for his return. He suffered the injury diving for a ball on Saturday. Gregorius previously indicated that he thought he'd be ready to play on Opening Day.

Reid Brignac has elected free agency.

Brignac, a non-roster invitee this spring, was among the Marlins' final cuts. He hit .222/.300/.346 in 81 at-bats with the Phillies last season. At best, he'll find work as a backup utility infielder, but he's not fantasy relevant.
